New York Edge nurtures each child’s gifts and talents so they can blossom 🌷

🎥 ABC7 takes us into the lives of Mia, a New York Edge student who discovered her gift for theatre, and her mother, Thalia, who has the ability to continue working after her daughter finishes school.

Thanks to New York Edge’s free afterschool programs, 35,000 students are enrolled in activities from soccer, dance, career readiness, cooking, animation, podcasting and more. Families are not only given the comfort of childcare, but know that their child is finding their passion. 💫

Thank you FreshDirect - The best online grocer in NYC for providing New York Edge 101X students with an inspiring Speed Mentoring experience! 🥗🥕🍓

Hosted at FreshDirect’s Bronx headquarters and warehouse, 20 students connected one-on-one with employees who shared their career paths and offered valuable advice. No two academic and professional journeys are the same, therefore, students gained unique insights from each mentor.

The day also included a personal tour of the warehouse and offices, providing students with a firsthand glimpse into the company’s daily operations.

And, of course, the experience ended with a nutritious lunch of sandwiches, salads, and fresh fruit generously provided by FreshDirect! 🥪🧃

This summer, New York Edge Animation Studios partnered with acclaimed NYC stop-motion animators to bring “Animation Reel Talk Live!” to sites! 🎥

These 2-hour workshops focused on artistic careers and explored various animation techniques.

On August 4th, Brittany Bartley () stopped by IS 285K to introduce replacement animation using colorful seashells and rocks. Check out some student animations and the great vibes from that day, and shout out to Brittany for inspiring the next generation of animators!

Welcome to New York Edge’s FIRST Cheer & Majorette Field Day Competition! 🏆📣

🎶 Teams brought incredible spirit and talent to the floor. Each routine celebrated music across the decades to follow our theme:

🤍 With a packed house of supporters, the atmosphere was electric. A huge shoutout to the amazing coaches and staff, whose hard work made this unforgettable day possible.

Special thanks to our wonderful host, Ilana Illy Warner, and our judges:

✨ Ajale Olaseni – Dance educator, choreographer, and founder of Majorette Monday, with a background in HBCU-style majorette and African dance. She is an alumna of Howard University’s NSAA African Dance Ensemble and Step Team. Her notable performances include the first Presidential Inauguration for President Obama, followed by various tv appearances and events.

✨ Naderah Munajj - Grammy Award-winning performer, dancer, actress, host, and founder of ASID Entertainment Group. She received a degree in accounting from the top public HBCU in the nation, Florida A&M University (FAMU) and has performed with artists such as Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Dr. Dre, and Doja Cat.

✨ Danielle Federico – Cheerleading coach with 20+ years of experience, Cheerleading Chairperson for the Brooklyn Queens Girls Catholic High School Athletic Association, and Varsity Cheer Coach at St. Francis Preparatory School (helping lead the program to two national finalist finishes). Danielle holds an MBA in Management from NYIT and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Mount Saint Vincent.
