Most vehicles have a recirculation button as part of their AC controls, but many of us aren’t sure when to use it. The simple rule of thumb is to use it in the summer and turn it off in the winter.
The recirculation button works by taking the air inside your car and recirculating it within the cabin, rather than pulling in fresh air from outside. On extremely hot days, if you don't use the recirculation feature, your AC system has to cool the hot air from outside, which can be less efficient. By recirculating the cooler air inside the car, you can cool your vehicle more quickly and reduce the strain on your AC system.
Side note: If your car has been sitting in the sun, it’s better to roll the windows down and turn off recirculation for the first minute or so. This allows the superheated air inside to escape before you turn the recirculation on.
Additionally, anytime you’re stuck in traffic—whether it’s summer or winter—be sure to use the recirculation feature. If you’re pulling air from outside, you’re also pulling in pollutants and carbon monoxide from the traffic around you. Studies show that using the recirculation feature can reduce the amount of pollutants entering your vehicle by 20% when you’re stuck in traffic.

Sam is an 11-year-old student in the sixth grade who rides his bicycle to the bus stop each day, securing it in the woods during his wait. One Tuesday afternoon, upon returning from school, he discovered that his bicycle was missing.

In light of this situation, Sam sought assistance from Deputy John Steffner, who resides nearby. Although Deputy Steffner was unable to locate the missing bicycle, he recognized that acquiring a replacement would require some time. Demonstrating a commitment to community support, Deputy Steffner reached out to his Alpha Squad colleagues—Sgt. Ross Porter and Deputies Gage Massey, Ryan Davidson, Michael Dean, Garret Green, and Todd Harris. Collectively, they devised a plan to raise funds to purchase a new bicycle for Sam, along with a bicycle lock to enhance security.

The following day, the team convened, accompanied by Deputy Steffner’s son, to present Sam with the newly acquired bicycle as a surprise.

This incident exemplifies the principles of community policing, illustrating how law enforcement officers can extend their roles beyond their routine responsibilities to assist members of the community. Every day, officers across the nation engage in similar acts of goodwill, though these positive stories often remain underreported amid prevailing negative narratives in the media. We take pride in contributing to this community and remain committed to providing support whenever possible. ⭐ ❤

✅✅ This heartwarming story reminds us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. Let’s all take a moment to support one another and contribute to a stronger, more compassionate community.

During a recent visit to Target, I had the opportunity to witness an unexpectedly profound experience that highlighted the significance of human connection and kindness in our daily lives. While I was waiting for a family member to complete their shopping, my attention was captured by a lively display of vibrant dinosaur toys. These toys, with their bright colors and engaging designs, instantly enchanted my young companion, Owen. His eyes lit up with excitement as he eagerly selected all three toys, prompting us to engage in an enjoyable discussion about which one he should ultimately choose to take home.

As we deliberated between the options, a serendipitous moment occurred when Owen noticed an older gentleman walking by. With the uninhibited enthusiasm characteristic of children, he exclaimed, “HI!” The man, whose face brightened with a warm smile, readily returned the greeting, saying, “Hey, sweet boy.”

In a world often characterized by uncertainty and social hesitance, this meaningful exchange was particularly reassuring. After a brief yet heartwarming conversation, the gentleman reached into his wallet, withdrew a crisp $20 bill, and gently placed it into Owen’s pocket. He looked directly at Owen and said, with a touch of emotion, “I just lost my 2-year-old grandson last week. Please use this money to purchase all three dinosaurs.” His actions demonstrated not only generosity, transforming a moment of personal loss into an act of kindness that would create a lasting memory.

Owen, filled with joy and surprise, expressed his gratitude by calling out, “Thank you!” The gentleman, clearly pleased by this heartfelt interaction, turned back and joyfully exclaimed, “Boomer Sooner!” This encounter serves as a powerful reminder that even amidst the complexities and challenges present in contemporary society, genuine compassion and kindness can arise in the most unexpected circumstances, creating connections that resonate deeply across generations. 🤝 ❤

I received a report concerning a 92-year-old woman in need of a welfare check. It was noted that she frequently walks along the street and occasionally experiences disorientation regarding her surroundings. Furthermore, she sometimes forgets that her door is open, leading her to believe she is locked out. Neighbors have expressed concern for her well-being, indicating that she has memory issues and often has cold hands. They have graciously invited her to warm up in their residence.

During our welfare check, we discovered that the woman has two sons who do not visit or provide her with sustenance. Her refrigerator contained only a small amount of milk and old lemonade, while the only food she had available was a bag of Cheerios. Additionally, the cleanliness of her home had deteriorated. She expressed a poignant desire to understand why her sons had not been in contact with her or provided her with food. She stated that her basic needs could be addressed with simple provisions, such as a couple of sandwiches, to alleviate her hunger.

Recognizing the gravity of her situation, we took the initiative to address her needs. We procured a variety of groceries, including a rotisserie chicken, sandwich supplies sufficient to last several weeks, hearty soups, snacks, and bottled water. Upon returning and presenting the food items at her door, we observed her astonishment and overwhelming joy at receiving assistance.

This experience underscores the notion that our responsibilities extend beyond merely enforcing the law. At times, the most significant contribution we can make is to exhibit compassion and reassure individuals that they are not alone in their struggles. ❤ 💜

✅ Sometimes, the greatest gift we can offer isn't just help—it's compassion. A simple act of kindness can make someone feel seen and remind them they are not alone. ⏸

This remarkable accomplishment highlights the significance of education across three generations of our family. Last weekend, my grandmother, my mother, and I proudly received our master’s degrees from Western Governors University, an achievement that allowed us to share the unforgettable experience of walking across the stage together at the commencement ceremony. 👏💯

During this inspiring event, my grandmother—who was honored to serve as the commencement speaker—delivered a heartfelt address, reflecting on her own educational journey and the importance of resilience. To our amazement, she revealed that we are the first trio of three-generation graduates in the history of the university, a milestone that signifies not only our personal achievements but also the enduring value of education in our family. This occasion served as a powerful reminder that it is never too late to embrace learning and that the pursuit of knowledge can create lasting legacies and inspire future generations. ❤️ 💜

✅✅No matter your age or stage in life, never stop learning—education has the power to transform lives and leave a legacy for generations to come.

Yesterday, I had an enlightening conversation with my daughter about snack time at school. She mentioned that while some of her classmates bring snacks, not everyone does. I was curious and asked, "What do the kids without snacks do during break?" She told me, "They do homework." 🤫

This made me reflect on the situation, and I asked her, "Do you think it's fair for some kids to work while others enjoy a snack?" She thoughtfully responded, "No." 😥

Understanding the importance of inclusion, I decided it would be beneficial to ensure that every child had the opportunity to enjoy snack time. The next day, I brought snacks not just for my daughter but also for my son Noah’s class. It was heartwarming to see all the children enjoying their time together with the snacks! Inspired by this experience, I now plan to contribute snacks weekly so that every child can share in those moments of joy. 💯 ❤️
