I've gotten this type of question from students who would like to ensure that they practice piano while dealing with time constraints in a given time period, e.g., for a work or school project.
If I only have 3 hours of total time to practice in a given week, would it be better for me to practice for 90 minutes daily on two days or 30 minutes daily on six days?
I usually give them my answer and supporting rationale related to theories on learning, body mechanics, and mental health.
There are other considerations that my students and I review in individualized plans that I develop for their situation and the material that they're learning. Send me a message if you are interested in individualized piano lessons with me! 🙋

As someone who classically trained in piano while engaging in school and extracurricular activities (including performances, rehearsals, auditions, and chorus), I share first-hand experiences of how to excel in playing the piano while balancing other commitments with my child students. I have also developed practice tips for young students through 10+ years of teaching them how to play piano.
Tip #2: My prior tip was for adult piano students, but this one is for parents of children who are studying piano...
Tie your child's practice to a DAILY ROUTINE TASK that takes into account their SCHOOL & EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY SCHEDULES. That way, you can set a start time that is consistent across both weekdays and weekends.
Here are examples:
-Shortly after WAKING UP (before going to school)
-After COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL
-Before HAVING A SNACK AFTER SCHOOL
-After HAVING A SNACK AFTER SCHOOL
-Before engaging in another EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY
-After engaging in another EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY
-Before DINNER
-After DINNER
-Before GOING TO SLEEP overnight
Occasionally, events may arise that require a shift in your child's practice schedule on certain days, but it's helpful for you to incorporate practice into a routine by default.
More tips are on the way! Of course, message or call me if you are interested in piano lessons with me for yourself or your child! Children and adult beginner piano students are certainly welcome 👐

As a classically-trained, experienced piano teacher in Manhattan, NYC that teaches adults and children, I have developed some helpful practice tips. Here's the first one that I'll share:
Tip #1: This one is for adult piano students...
Tie your practice to a DAILY ROUTINE TASK that takes into account your WORK SCHEDULE (if you are still working). That way, you can set a start time that is consistent across both weekdays and weekends. Here are examples:
-Shortly after WAKING UP (before you go to work)
-Before DINNER
-After DINNER
-Before you SLEEP overnight
