Congratulations to our graduating GSAS Master’s students! We toasted to the Class of 2025 at the Half Pint last month. Thank you to all of our students and alumni who joined us to celebrate our graduates and to the Leadership Board and MCAA for hosting this event. The Master’s College hosted its annual Threesis Academic Challenge in April this year. Congratulations to our first place winner Suha Musa, a Journalism and International Relations student whose research was titled “Two Sides of the Same Coin? What One Minnesota Election Tells Us About Identity Politics”. We would like to thank all other finalists, competitors, judges, attendees, and event organizers for coming together to celebrate master’s level research at NYU. This year’s competition was filled with riveting presentations and compelling research — we look forward to what next year’s challenge will bring!

This workshop will review successful statements, discuss writing approaches, and build a sense of the form, tone, and general content of application statements. For our latest student spotlight, meet Karan Kumar Gangadhar (he/him)!
📚 Department: Computer Science
Karan is a second-year graduate student at NYU Courant. He is currently focused on his master's thesis research on programmable computer networks and compiler optimization under Professor Anirudh Sivaraman. His primary research interests are parallelization, program and compiler optimization, and computer networks.
Karan works extensively in the field of programmable network switches, focusing on building highly optimized compilers and transpilation tools for network programs. In addition, he is interested in general language-agnostic task parallelization techniques using thread-level tools. Karan’s research got published at the prestigious APNet conference last year; he recently submitted his work to ACM SIGCOMM and is awaiting a response.
