NYC-PARENTS IN ACTION (PIA) - FATHERS PARENT TALK

NYC-Parents in Action (PIA) is hosting a facilitated discussion via Zoom just for fathers. This small group Parent Talk offers a relaxed, judgment-free space, where dads can connect and speak openly about their parenting experiences with others walking the same path. No lectures or experts—just real conversations among fathers navigating everything from toddler tantrums to teenage boundaries. Today at Upper School Community Time - Annie Coombs ’99, Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute’s Undergraduate School of Architecture

Today’s Upper School Community Time speaker was Annie Coombs ’99, a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute’s Undergraduate School of Architecture. She is a principal at Siris Coombs Architecture, a studio that works beyond traditional realms of architecture for individuals and communities alike. She is also chairperson of the board of trustees for the YMCA of the Seven Council Fires in South Dakota. Previously she worked with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, where she participated in the design and construction of a diverse group of cultural, educational, and residential projects, including The Shed at Hudson Yards, the redevelopment of Columbia University’s Medical Campus, and the redevelopment of Lincoln Center. Annie is a Registered Architect in the state of New York and a member of the American Institute of Architects. She has a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in the City of New York.

MIDDLE SCHOOL THEMED DRESS DAYS - MONDAY, 16 MARCH THROUGH THURSDAY, 19 MARCH

To celebrate the last week of school before Spring Break, Middle School will have themed dress days:

• Monday, 16 March - pajama day
• Tuesday, 17 March - patterns or St. Patrick’s Day
• Wednesday, 18 March - favorite character from a book
• Thursday, 19 March - vacation day or dress down day

Note: If students do not participate in the Monday through Thursday themes, they must adhere to the regular dress code.

Faculty News - Performing Arts Coordinator Laurie Webber has a solo exhibition of paintings in New Jersey.

Performing Arts Coordinator Laurie Webber has a solo exhibition, “Stevensonville,” at 503 Social Club Gallery. The show, featuring twelve paintings that bring to life the characters from singer/songwriter George Usher’s forthcoming album of the same name, runs from Sunday, 15 March through Saturday, 11 April. 503 Social Club Gallery is located at 503 3rd Street in Hoboken, New Jersey.

FROM THE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM - LAST DAY OF AFTERSCHOOL CLASSES FOR THE WINTER TRIMESTER

Today, Friday, 13 March, is the last day of Lower School Afterschool classes for the winter trimester. Afterschool makeup classes will be on Monday, 16 March; music lesson makeup classes will be on Monday, 16 March through Thursday, 19 March; and the last day of Kid’s Club is Thursday, 19 March.

Inviting all curly, coily, and wavy-haired friends to don their comfy clothes and come celebrate the beauty and bonding of childhood hair-styling traditions! Upper School students will spend a cozy afternoon with Lower School students, helping them create simple, stylish looks, braids, or ponytails with fun hair accessories, while we all enjoy a movie and pizza in our comfy clothes.
