Crafts Vocal Studios provide vocal technical, dramatic and linguistic training for aspiring singers. We specialize in preparation for collegiate and professional auditions. We have years of experience in preparing young singers for a careers in music, and have taught at some of the premier conservatory and professional programs in the country, including Peabody Conservatory, Santa Fe Opera and Obe
rlin Conservatory in Italy. We are able to diagnose and correct vocal problems, extend range and improve tone quality. In addition, we are fluent in all major languages and can assist with dramatic presentation and role study. Please meet our master teachers:
Edward Crafts has performed as a leading baritone with the world's most prominent opera stages, including the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera Covent Garden, Vienna Staatsoper, Rome Opera, New York City Opera, Chicago Lyric Opera, Dallas Opera and many others. A graduate of Curtis Institute of Music (voice) and Indiana University (opera stage direction), he has also directed almost fifty operas for a variety of professional and academic institutions, including Opera Illinois, Opera Boheme New Jersey, Maryland Lyric Opera, Peabody Conservatory, University of Nebraska, University of Maryland Baltimore County and the University of Arkansas. As a professor of voice, he has served on faculties of Catholic University, University of Nebraska, and Hood College. He recently directed La Traviata and Rigoletto for the Seoul Arts Center in Korea. With his wife Heather, he founded Opera in Concert, Dallas, for which he has produced dozens of concerts and complete operas. Video: Mr. Crafts can be seen in performance at:
Heather Ross-Crafts graduated from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music and Indiana University School of Music. She has enjoyed an extensive career as an opera and concert singer in the United States, Europe and Japan, performing over 30 operatic roles, including Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Mimi in La Boheme, and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni. As a stage director she has produced numerous operas (I Pagliacci, La Traviata, Il Barbiere di Siviglia) and specializes in liturgical drama. She has served as Artistic Director of the Opera Company of Jacksonville and the Maryland Lyric Opera. She has been on the voice faculties at Molloy College, Hood College and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She is a founder of Opera in Concert, Dallas, and for the past eight years she has taught voice and stage deportment in their summer study program in Urbino, Italy. In June 2021 she served as adjudicator for the National Voice Competition of the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Opening our new Vocal Studios location in Weston, CT, just a little more than an hour from NYC. On these beautiful wooded grounds we look forward to resuming our work with serious classical singers of all ages.

It's been a busy spring and summer - Lauren McNeese had a huge success in the San Francisco Ring cycle, Doug Brunker appeared with Opera in Concert as Spiridione, and Ivey Barr and Holly Howard sang three concerts with Opera in Concert in Italy. Alicia Wallace has formed a chamber music group named Duo Commosso. Congratulations to all!
