We have begun once again to post a daily thought on college baseball recruitment on Twitter. This week we have looked at the importance of being pro-active and taking the first steps to contacting coaches to start building those all important relationships including the knowledge that NAIA & NJCAA coaches can reach out to you at any time. We also looked at what a National Letter of Intent is and today we posted a timely Tweet on parents preparing to fill out their FAFSA in the hope of securing some student aid money. I was recently asked by a parent,"What goes into an email to a college baseball coach? How can my son get their attention?" There are 5 components to an introductory email to a college coach...
1. The salutation should never be addressed to "Whom it May Concern". Do the research before writing the email and personalize each with the college coach's name.
2. Tell the coach what high school you are attending, year of graduation and your primary and secondary positions that you play.
3. Why are you interested in this college & why do you want to play for that school and that coach? Again, do the research first and tell the coach what you liked and what made you reach out to them. Be specific.
4. It is invaluable to have an athletic profile link that includes a video showcasing your skills, has easily attainable athletic and academic stats, as well as listing the travel teams you play for and any awards and recognitions you have received.
5. Do not forget to include your contact information such as address, phone number and email address so college coaches can reach out directly to you. Parents, this has to be their contact information. The coach does not want to speak to you, they want to speak to your son.
Finally, in the subject line of the email, avoid writing such things as Introduction or Information on your Program, etc... Give the coach a reason to open your email. One example is to write your name position, year of graduation and location.
Hope this was helpful and if you need any assistance in the college baseball recruiting process, don't hesitate to contact us. We are here to assist parents to assist their sons.

In two days we bring our son Miles to Ashland University where he will play baseball for Coach Shaley and major in Exercise Science. You can check out his recruitment story here: http://bit.ly/1iehX4J
Needless to say, we are very proud of him. He worked very hard and our family was behind him 100%. We started Parent to Parent Recruitment Services to assist other parents in understanding how to navigate the world of college baseball recruitment with your family in mind. As you read Miles' Story, check out the rest of our website and contact us with any comments or questions you might have.
Miles' Story
We began to look at colleges and college baseball programs for our son Miles beginning in his sophomore year. We truly had no knowledge whatsoever on how any of this worked, not even knowing what an MLB style showcase was. The first of these showcases we took Miles to was at St. John's University.…
