Congratulations to NYC's premier public garden designer Lynden B. Miller who was honored last night by Parks Commissioner Mitchel Silver and First Deputy Parks Commissioner Liam Kavanaugh for her decades of service in creating and restoring so many of New York City's most beloved public gardens.

The occasion was the screening of a superb documentary "Beatrix Ferrand: American Landscapes" narrated by Lynden herself in a moving tribute to the landscape garden designer she credits for inspiring her own storied career.

Lynden's achievements extend beyond the gardens she made and the New Yorkers for Parks Daffodil Project she founded with Adrian Benepe to honor those lost on 9/11. (7.5 million daffodils planted and counting) Lynden's greatest legacy is the countless lives she has touched over the years with the message she has steadfastly embodied in her work: people have a need for beauty in their lives, and the the pursuit of the highest standards of public horticulture fortifies communities of all social strata.
Lynden, THANK YOU.
