Friday, November 13 was a lucky day for us! We got to see our wonderful ESL teachers and the rest of the ESL “familia” after a long time.
The minute I entered the room, I felt I was in room 5 in the lower floor of Paul D. Schreiber High School. We had a full house at Dolce Colombian Restaurant, from class of 1978 to class of 2010, and our ESL teachers. These Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) were more than teacher to us. They went above and beyond to advocate for us.
Mrs. Mingorance, Mrs. Girillo, Mrs. Zimmerman, Mrs. Thymius, Ms. Venditto, Mrs. Marijosius, Mrs. Keegan, Mr. Davis and other wonderful teachers, thank you for coming and for supporting us. We appreciate your efforts and your passion. We had a great time sharing pictures from back in the days remembering our high school shenanigans and now sharing business cards with you, our proud teachers.
It was a pleasure to meet the founders of the ESL program. This program helped us connect with people of diverse backgrounds by guiding us through the challenges we shared and towards our dreams.
Thank you to all for made this great event possible and for your donation to the JD Blumenfeld Scholarship Fund. We raised over $300.
And special thanks to Martin for hosting this event at his restaurant, Dolce Colombian Restaurant. https://www.facebook.com/Dolcecolombianrestaurant/
For those who could not come, we missed you! We hope to see you next time.
Thank you,
Josselyn
