Huge thanks to our colleagues at the U.S. Army War College for their advice and engagement today, and to the administration of Harrisburg University of Science and Technology for their support of the project.
Representatives from the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle sat in on a Simulating Global Crises class today.
Students enrolled in the course, created by Professor John McKnight and Librarian David Runyon, work together to confront a global crisis throughout the semester.
Students learn teamwork, develop communication and civic engagement skills, and more as they work in teams to confront a humanitarian crisis.
This semester, the simulation has students based in Iceland, where they are confronted with a volcanic response and mitigation scenario.
The U.S. Army War College uses an in-house simulation game as the final exam for Army officers enrolled in the college's two-year distance program.
Last summer, the War College and HU teamed to test the college's South China Sea Matrix simulation game here at HU.
