STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Leah Frimerman spent the last 6 months researching at the Biomedical Research Park of Barcelona - one of the largest and leading scientific infrastructures in Europe. Her work focused on understanding mechanisms that modulate the endocannabinoid system during nerve injury to help design new strategies and therapeutics to treat neuropathic pain, a type of chronic pain that lacks effective treatment. Leah says, ā€œI learned a lot from collaborating with scientists from across Europe. Science was our common ground amidst the conflict of Barcelona and the region of Catalonia fighting for their independence from Spain. It was an interesting experience to put the politics aside and have a multi-cultural team focus on work that we are passionate about."

Hey, I’m Baily Sirota! I began my journey of medicine in Touro Avenue J and I am graduating Touro PA school this May! I was lucky to have the opportunity to do an emergency medicine rotation abroad in the Western Galilee Medical Center, in Nahariya, Israel for 5 weeks. It was incredible to work and give back to a land that is a big part of who I am and my history. We worked with the first physician assistants in Israel and I feel so lucky to be part of such a ground-breaking initiative. We were part of their amazing trauma one team, scrubbed in on brain surgeries, and practiced patient care. It was such an unforgettable experience.

Only a few spots left! -

Only a few spots left! Did you know that 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes? Statistically speaking, if you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love: a co-worker, a spouse, a parent, a child or a friend.
