On April 23, NYU Stern hosted the 46th Annual Haskins Giving Society Award Dinner at Cipriani 25 Broadway, which brought together more than 400 of the School’s most dedicated alumni and supporters.
Marty Gruber, recipient of the 2026 Charles Waldo Haskins Award, was recognized for his extraordinary 45 years of service—through his teaching, his influential research, and his enduring commitment to giving back. A pillar of the finance community, Marty has helped shape Stern’s reputation in finance while ensuring that future generations of students have the resources to excel.
Chavon Sutton (MBA ’12), recipient of the NYU Stern Torchbearer Award, was honored for her tireless advocacy and service. As a leader in sustainable investing and a founding member of the Stern Corporate Ambassador Program, Chavon has consistently gone above and beyond to strengthen the alumni network and support student success.
The evening was a powerful reminder that Stern’s greatest strength is the people who give back. Congratulations to our honorees!

On March 11, 2026, the global NYU Stern community marked a major milestone in celebration of the 10th annual NYU One Day, the University’s day of giving.
Together, Stern raised an all-time high of $14.2 million through over 2,000 gifts, which helped set a special 10th anniversary record for the School. This year’s momentum was fueled by alumni support that helped unlock a series of matching gift challenges to amplify the impact of every contribution:
💜 Stern Executive Board and Alumni Council: A generous $1 million initiative that matched all gifts up to that amount
💜 The Stern 10 Challenge: Kristen Dean (MBA ’78) contributed $100,000 to scholarships after 100 alumni from the last decade made a gift
💜 Scholarship Challenge: The first 250 donors of the day helped unlock a $250,000 challenge from Riyadh Lai (MBA ’95)
Funds raised from NYU One Day provide critical support for student scholarships, groundbreaking faculty research, and School-wide initiatives that directly enrich the student experience.

NYU Stern alumnus Philip Landrigan (BS '81) is included in a NYTimes story for playing a key role as a lawyer for the heirs of a Jewish art dealer, helping secure a settlement that will return a Nazi-looted Modigliani painting to its rightful family after decades of legal battles.
