We’re happy to announce some June and July dates for our Paid SVA Faculty Canvas Training. Whether you’re brand new to SVA’s learning management system or just need a refresher, this half-day training will get you well on your way to implementing Canvas in your fall or spring courses. We’ll work together to create a simple Canvas course and explore some of Canvas’ assessment and communication tools as well. We’re also excited to be taking the training on the road for the first time, with a pair of sessions at the main SVA library in addition to our usual west side location. VoiceThread (VT) is a plugin fully integrated with Canvas and is a great tool to have discussions centered around media. In this workshop we will explore the different ways you can use VT in your course including critiques, assignments, presentations, general discussions. We will also use this opportunity to practice using VT and setting up VT in your course. This webinar will be hosted in Google Hangouts so all you need is an internet connection and headphones.

Whether it is the use of a blog, LMS , or their own personal site, more and more instructors are using technology to enhance learning within their classroom. With each type of online tool, having a basic understanding of HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) can enhance the interactivity an instructor has with their created material. This workshop will give a basic overview of HTML programming and how it relates to the general formatting of online content utilized by educators.
