As far as I'm concerned, I just saw a celebrity, and y'all can't tell me different.

Seeing the kids I teach in class while just chilling and going about my life always picks me up. The excitement of recognizing their faces and seeing that they're still out and about living this life is like being hugged and twirled around in a big circle. Having them be equally excited to see me is like giving the hug right back. It's such a warm and fuzzy community moment that only really comes from working where I live and seeing the lives I touch continue to blossom outside of class.

There's a lot I don't like about living in NYC, things like these little celebrity moments keep me grounded and excited to be here.

This is one of the things that makes teaching worth it. ♥️

Our Feeling Good Mini Series has finally arrived!

Every Thursday in June, starting at 6:30pm, we're bringing together fun movement and relaxing in nature … and no, we don't mean exercising in the park (although those were really refreshing classes 😅).

Each week we're bringing a 45min taste of one of the fitness formats we offer, starting with Zumba on June 4. After each class, grab your snacks and come on over to Hudson Yards with us to enjoy the summer evening together with snacks, games, and conversation. Our beloved Cherry Hibiscus Iced Tea from Spices and Tease (https://spicesandtease.com/shop/tea/hibiscus/cherry-hibiscus/) is set to make an appearance as well.

It's Friday and I'm exhausted but full of joy.

Today just reminded me of why I do what I do. I taught my 4th Zumba KIDS class at a school in the Bronx today and one little girl, let's call her Amy, finally came out of her shell 😀

I'm so honored that she felt safe enough to start expressing herself in our class. Regardless of whether or not she was doing the scripted activity, moments like these make me feel like this job really does matter and I'm making a difference. Even if it's only with Amy. ♥️♥️

Just sharing my Saturday vibes

I've hydroponically grown my pothos plants in the kitchen. This is exponentially easier than soil in terms of regular care, but it does mean every now and then they need a bath to wash off dust, dead bits, and algae. I missed their last seasonal bath and they've been a bit grumpy 😅 giving me brown stems and dirty rings around the inside of the vessels. They all got a refreshing warm water rinse today and the vessels were all cleaned.

Everybody's happy now 😊

What a great start to Spring!

We had such a wonderful time playing around Squarrel Cafe's table at our Spring Cheers Game Night last month. From the laughter to the friendly competition, it was everything we hoped for and more.

Monthly Free Zumba Classes

For the months of April (4/22), May (5/20), and June (TBA) we're offering a monthly 5pm Zumba class for free at the Duane St. Emblem Health Neighborhood Care Center.

Be sure to register on their website below ASAP because classes, and even the wait list, tend to fill quickly.

Pro-tip: registration for the next month opens the last Monday of the current month, so visit the site on 4/27 for the best chance to save your spot in May’s class.
