Last week, the Léman community came together at the Broad Street Ballroom for the 8th Annual Rise Against Hunger food packing drive. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of everyone involved, Léman has raised over $9,000 for the organization and packed more than 20,000 meals!

This amazing event brings students, faculty, staff, and families together to support the New York City community. The packed meals are distributed to orphanages, hospitals, and schools in areas of greatest need.

A big shoutout to Ms. C for her dedication in coordinating this wonderful Léman tradition! Go Bulls!

CECE and Lower School celebrated the this commemorative occasion with various activities such as the "Museum of 100 Objects," "100 Acts of Kindness," and a special 100 Days Art Project.

For the museum, students were encouraged to bring in 100 items to display to the Léman community. The "100 Acts of Kindness" project involved students writing specific acts of kindness they did on the community board. The PreK 4 teachers used this special day to help the students practice their counting! Each PreK 4 student had to count to 100 to complete the art project!

Léman's 4th Grade scientists had the opportunity to explore anatomy of the eye as they dissected cow eyes today during their science lab workshop!

During the project, the students identified key parts such as the cornea, retina, and optic nerve. This hands-on experience helped the students understand the different components of the eye, using their critical thinking and observation skills to carefully label parts of the animal.

In PreK 2, the students honored Martin Luther King Jr. and his message of respect for all by creating a "Peace Tree" in their classroom!

First, Ms. Lawton and Ms. Covarrubias led the class in a read-aloud of the book "Celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Dreaming of Change" by Joel Kupperstein. The class discussed how MLK Jr. noticed that not everyone was being treated with respect, and how important it is to show kindness toward others. The PreK 2 students reflected on ways they can spread peace and love in their everyday lives, and the teachers transcribed their words onto the leaves for the "Peace Tree."

Be sure to keep swiping through the photo gallery to see PreK 2's completed classroom "Peace Tree!"

2nd Grade visited the Smithsonian Museum of The American Indian! The students are in the midst of learning the Social Studies Unit: New York City Overtime. They started the unit by studying the native people who lived in what we now know as the modern day Manhattan, the Lenape.

At the museum they had the opportunity to learn more about the differences in lifestyles, land, and cultures the Lenape followed vs. what we see in NYC today.

6th Grade students explore frog dissection! In class, they are learning about human anatomy and explored this by observing how organs and body systems function in a real organism.

This hands-on experience builds lab skills like making observations, conducting conclusions, and analyzing scientific diagrams. Frog dissection supports IB Science principles by promoting inquiry-based learning, hands-on investigation, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. By exploring anatomy in this way, they gain a stronger foundation for future scientific inquiry and problem-solving.
