Top Gun Barbecue was established in 2015 out of Staten Island, NY by lifelong resident and Chef, Daniel Jacobellis. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from the Culinary Institute of America, and has spent close to 10 years studying and cultivating his skills in the barbecue world. As a former Sous Chef in one of Manhattan’s top barbecue restaurants (Blue Smoke), Chef Daniel has honed various techniques and processes by training under numerous well known Pitmasters throughout the country. He has proven leadership skills with a track record of training, developing, and fostering strong teams focused on quality, presentation, and safety. In 2016 at the age of 24, Chef Daniel led Top became one of the youngest Pittmasters to win a KCBS Grand Championship, by claiming the NJ State Championship at Seaside Height, NJ. This victory opened the doors for us to compete in the 2017 American Royal World Series of Barbecue in Kansas City, KS as well as the 2017 Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, TN.
