The Judaic Studies Department at Brooklyn College condemns the senseless murder of LGBTQ people at the Q Club in Colorado Springs on November 19th. The foiled planned attack on a synagogue here in New York City over the same weekend shows that hate has no bounds and that its dangers may seem distant but can become local all too quickly. May they be a lesson to us to come together and speak out against hatred in all its forms and against all peoples of all persuasions so that we can create a civil society together.

Explore the tremendous scope and diversity of the Jewish experience at Brooklyn College's Department
The faculty members of the Department of Judaic Studies at Brooklyn College condemn the racially motivated attack on Black people at a Buffalo supermarket on May 14th. We stand in solidarity with our Black fellow Americans. Hatred and bigotry have no place in America. The racist replacement theory that motivated the shooter has also motivated attacks on Jews and other minorities. Jewish history teaches how prejudice and bigotry can escalate quickly and how important it is to stand together with those being targeted. Never again means never again for anyone.
