Early Deadline to submit Films & Screenplays approaches - November 19!

Join writers and filmmakers from Harlem to Hong Kong for the opportunity to showcase your work in the world famous cultural capital – Harlem, New York City!

The 19th Annual Harlem International Film Festival (Hi XIX) opens the call to all FILMS & SCREENPLAYS around the world in any category, by anyone, about anything under the sun: Animation; Documentary; Narrative; Experimental; Music Video; Webisode; Youth Film as well as a specially discounted segment on locally-produced cinema. We welcome passionate, even controversial work.

Harlem International accepts and awards Short and Feature length projects. Feature Documentaries are considered 45 minutes and over and Narrative Features are 60 minutes and over (including titles and end credits). Short works in Narrative, Documentary and Experimental can apply under the general Shorts category.

Animation, Music Video and Webisodes each have their own category. Youth projects must have been completed while the director, producer and/or primary cast was/were under 21 years old.

LOCAL CINEMA In line with its mission, Harlem International offers discounted admission to films produced in the HUB (Harlem, Upper Manhattan & the Bronx), centered on the area and/or its rich history or featuring key cast or crew members from Harlem, other Uptown neighborhoods (North of 96th Street in Manhattan) or the Bronx.

Discounts are also available for all current students when applying through our partner FilmFreeway.

BLOW UP MY LIFE is back in NY for one week only! Now playing at AMC Empire 25 in Times Square!

The comedy/thriller, which won Best Film at Harlem International Film Festival in May, features strong performances from Harlem's own Kara Young as well as her co-stars Jason Selvig, Ben Horner, Davram Stiefler and Reema Sampat.

Blow Up My Life is a timely and hilarious comedy-meets-plot-twist-filled thriller about Jason (Jason Selvig), a disgraced pharmaceutical employee who accidentally discovers a deadly opioid conspiracy, sending him and his cousin Charlie (Kara Young) on the run to expose the crime with a trail of chaos in their wake.

Tickets are sold out at tonight's Albie Awards benefit at Maysles Documentary Center (one of the Festival's longtime partners), but you can still nab a ticket to the after party with DJ Stormin' Norman and/or make a donation to support the cinema and their one-of-a-kind education programs for local youth!

Help make a difference to empowering young people with production experience, collaboration skills, media literacy and developing advocacy for themselves and the community as a whole.
