How do I know who to vote for?
Every parents gets three votes. For CCSE & CEC 8 Vote:
1. Austin Rodriguez
2. Rima Izquierdo
3. Whomever you feel is qualified out of the other 28/310 candidates
Rima Izquierdo is an advocate and powerhouse in District 8 and for all children with IEPs and their parents. She fights for what is right and I have been honored to learn so much from her. It would be an amazing united force if we were both elected to the council. If you have a child with an IEP or in District 8 vote for us both!

The text below is my client statement:
As a father of 2 children with ASD who have moderate-to-severe hearing loss, a daughter in the Gifted and Talented program who is being evaluated for dyslexia, and three step-children in District 8 schools, I know the challenge parents of children with IEPs face. After attending several IEP meetings and mediations for my children and other families, I decided I wanted to take a larger role as a parent leader. My experience in parent leadership is limited due to the fact that my wife had always been in leadership as an advocate and I have always worked supporting her roles. She has decided not to run this year so there is no conflict of interest. Also, I spent 11 years in the U.S.Army and am an Afghanistan combat veteran which limited the time I had for meetings and events. Even though I am working towards law school now and am a paralegal, I have more than enough time to fully participate as a parent leader. I would like your vote so I can enter parent leadership and give a voice to fathers and all parents with children who have IEPs. My experience with leadership, knowledge of Robert's rules, understanding of by-laws, annual reports, and the Chancellor's Regulations makes me a candidate that will be able to succeed on a council. Thank you for your consideration.

Vote for Austin Rodriguez if you child goes to a school in District 8 in the Bronx and/or if they have an IEP.
