What do you mean it’s September 1st?! Time flies and now Fall is upon us. We have plenty of events and workshops to welcome you back to school this month!

Summer is almost over and we’re getting ready for Fall with a slate of new classes, events, and workshops. And yoga in French is back!

Our team has been working very hard to prepare for la rentrée! We welcomed new teachers and staff, but also said au revoir to some team members who are going back to Europe 🌍, going back to school 🏫, or going on an adventure on the great American road! 🚐

You’d think a question as innocuous as “do you prefer croissants or pains au chocolat?” would never stir controversy. Have you met the French?

First of all, we need to make one thing clear, what is called in the US “chocolate croissant” is un pain au chocolat which is a rectangle. Only crescent shaped pastries can be called croissants (literally crescent) in French.

Now there is a very French debate going on because in the south west of France the pain au chocolat is called a chocolatine. And the chocolatine team is trying to spread the name to the rest of France, thus creating conflict and unrest at the boulangerie!

In any case, whether your favorite viennoiserie (danishes) is with or without chocolate, you can learn to make it yourself in NYC on September 20th with Coucou and Atelier Sucré NY 🥐

We’ll stay at Hôtel Amour Nice & Plage, a chic artsy boutique hotel. It’s the perfect launching pad for our adventures and the perfect place to relax after a full day! We’ll have dinner on the rooftop on the first night.

Every morning you’ll get tailored French classes with Eléonore and Jérémy, with cultural themes and grammar, and plenty of time for all your burning questions about French.

On the second evening, we’ll have a cooking workshop with Chef Paul Albert Paul Albert and we’ll then savor the fruit of our labor 😉

We have also planned a scavenger hunt to discover the old town of Nice and its flower market, and ice cream may be involved 🤫

We’ll tour the Château de Bellet and taste their natural wines. Dinners are scheduled at BOCCA Nissa, BRUT and Lavomatique. And we will have plenty of time to explore local patisseries for le goûter.

We will go to Vallauris, the ceramics capital, for an exclusive tour of artist Olivia Cognet - Sculptor showroom and a stroll in the village.

We’ll also take a sunset cruise from the port of Nice, and that’s just chic.

Bienvenue Samuel! Meet our new teacher, who also happens to be a thespian 🎭 Samuel is from the Paris area and moved to NYC (his mother’s hometown) a few years ago.

He has a level 1 in-person Signature Class starting on 8/30 🇫🇷

📺 France has reality tv but most of it is adapted from American shows like Survivor, The Voice, Top Chef, etc. Some are great like a certain baking show😉, but some not so much 😅

Love is blind (a Coucou team fave) has a French edition on Netflix US that you should definitely check out with the 6pm in Paris video explainers on YouTube 📲
