Archival discoveries!

04/29/2026

We feel so grateful for having a community that supports our work. Thanks to you, we were able to meet half of our goal for our 2027 round. Today marks the last day of our fundraising, and we were falling short.

But we have great news!!!! A very generous donor has agreed to match all donations received between April 29 and May 4th up to a total of $5000!! So we are not only extending the campaign, we are raising the stakes! Please donate, share, and spread your enthusiasm for this project.

Please consider giving a little, or more, and share this message with your friends and co-workers. Every drop counts: Any gift helps to bolster and sustain this network of artists and environmentalists, and their leadership that helps to transform communities around the world.

Today on April 29 we celebrate the International Dance Day! Happy Dancing to everyone! Whenever you are, remember you need to move to stay alive, to move to be awake and to take action. Need some help? We can move with the Splash mob with this solo version or watch the original version with the choreographers!

Join the wave! Take action! Let's make a Splash!

Global Water Dances 2027: International Artists Call for Clean Water 03/27/2026

Global Water Dances is a program of LIMS' and we are raising funds for the 2026-7 events. And your support is needed!

The world has entered a state of global water bankruptcy with billions of people living in places without reliable access to clean water. Survival of LIFE on Earth depends on ALL of us to be a part of the education, strategy, and solution to protect water sources worldwide.

We are raising $25,000 for planning and production of our next wave of dancing in 2027. If you believe in the power of dance, arts, and story to catalyze change, join the global flow and help us reach our goal!

Funding for Global Water Dances 2027 supports:

Project coordination, choreography, music composition, and international leadership

Educational curriculum (global workshops, community and youth participation)

Global communication, and Social Media coordination

Video compilation & archiving (featuring 100+ dances)

International artist support

Any amount helps and we are so grateful!

Calling all scholars! Submissions are open for the 2026 Edition of our peer-reviewed annual journal, the Journal of Laban Bartenieff Movement Studies (JLBMS).

Embodied ecologies refer to the understanding of the body as an integral part of interconnected social, cultural, and ecological systems. This concept recognizes the body not only as a site of personal experience but also as an ecological entity shaped by and responsive to its life-worlds and the conditions of society.

Embodied ecologies situate the body as an active participant in the larger web of life, inviting critical reflections on how we move, relate, and exist within complex social and environmental systems. In the context of global climate crisis, social inequalities, and ongoing struggles for justice, the body becomes both a site of experience and a catalyst for change and reclamation. Contemporary applications of LBMS are increasingly challenged to respond to these dynamics through an awareness of how embodied actions shape and are shaped by ecological and social environments. This special issue of JLBMS invites contributions that explore how embodied ecologies inform movement practices, analysis, and advocacy, and how LBMS can contribute to fostering sustainable, interconnected ways of being in the world.
