Our Teacher of the Week is Tony Parisi! Tony spent 10 years as an EMT and Paramedic in the Marine Corps and 22 years with the NYPD. He has been with the JCC for three years as an ESL instructor, and holds instructors certifications in Chinese, Japanese, and Filipino in martial arts!
When asked about teaching, Tony said, "I love teaching! I love the sharing of knowledge, and the enthusiasm I experience from my students. I learn just as much from them as they do from me. I hope to continue teaching for many years to come!" Thank you for all of your hard, work Tony!

Our Teacher of the Week is Tracy Catalano! Tracy has been part of the Adult Education Literacy team for several years. She is a HSE teacher who meets the needs of her students one student at a time!
One of Tracy’s favorite quotes, which guides the way she encourages her students, is “Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.” Thank you for your dedication, Tracy!

We're proud to highlight our Teacher of the Week!
Iris has been a teacher in our High School Equivalency Program for more than 10 years. In taking her classes online, Iris has shown both creativity and insight into the needs of her students.
“Good is the enemy of great. And that is one of the key reasons why we have so little that become great. We don’t have great schools, principally because we have good schools. We don’t have great government, principally because we have a good government. A few people attain great lives, in large part because it is just so easy to settle for a good life.“

UPDATE ON TASC TESTING (03/17/20)- Per http://www.acces.nysed.gov/hse/high-school-equivalency-hse
NYS TASC Test Centers and COVID-19 Guidance
TUESDAY, MARCH 17, 2020
All NYS TASC Test® test centers should close and remain closed until further notice.
All TASC Test® test centers - should follow their parent organizations relative to closing. For example, if the parent organization is closed to students and clients, test centers also should close. For example: BOCES; Community Colleges; public schools; etc.
Stand-alone testing centers - which are not affiliated with a parent organization need to make their own determination about closing (in consultation with their agency leadership).
Test centers should contact all examinees, who are scheduled to test, to notify them that testing has been canceled and alert the Data Recognition Corporation (DRC) by canceling testing in the scheduling system. Also, please notify the public in your area through postings on your web sites, phone messages, etc.
There will be no penalties to test centers or examinees for canceled tests.
Please send as soon as possible - to HSE or DRC - all completed testing materials and accompanying documents for all test sessions which have already occurred.
The HSE walk up window, located at the NYSED building in Albany, will remain closed until further notice.
All test centers, examinees and others should continue to check this HSE Announcements page for updated information.
Test Centers should send email inquiries to the designated Test Center email box, and all others should send emails to [email protected].
