“From the very first note, many of us had tears in our eyes. We couldn’t believe that 135 people, beginners and professionals, were connected and playing together. It was incredible to see families playing together, teachers with students, mums and dads, grandmothers with their grandchildren.” We love it when families make music across generations! Auditory stimulation influencing early brain development.
Studies show that when mothers sing to their infants, specific neural pathways are activated in the baby’s brain. These pathways are associated with emotional regulation, attention, and social bonding. The combination of rhythm, pitch, and melody stimulates areas responsible for language and cognitive growth.
Maternal singing also helps regulate physiological responses. Babies often show decreased heart rates and reduced stress indicators during familiar songs. Over time, repeated exposure strengthens memory, emotional resilience, and early learning abilities.
The effect is both immediate and cumulative.
It highlights how everyday behaviors can serve as natural interventions for healthy development.
Singing is more than a cultural or emotional practice.
It acts as a measurable form of stimulation that shapes neural circuits and supports long-term cognitive and emotional health.

Originally composed in 1986 and titled “Solstice Song,” Ken Guilmartin rearranged and retitled the song "May All Children," in memory of the events of September 11, 2001. In 2002, the song was included in the Music Together Sticks Song Collection. Award-winning children's musician Laurie Berkner later recorded her own version of “May All Children” in honor of the International Day of Peace on September 21.
