BREAKING NEWS: Fox News is reporting that President Trump’s US Department of Interior, which includes the National Park Service, is severing partnerships with 43 organizations, including Clean Ocean Action. Our primary programs are Beach Sweeps, Student Summits, and other public education programs.
Fox News states, “Led by Secretary Doug Burgum, the department determined the agreements were ‘operating in direct opposition’ to its mission, according to a press release obtained exclusively by Fox News Digital.”
Clean Ocean Action has not received any communication regarding this action and are investigating. Stay tuned.

Hi teachers and educators,
I hope you are doing well and enjoying this warm weather!! Today I bring 3 announcements:
Some funding has become available to help teachers attend the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) Conference in Maryland next month!!! Through the Sound Support program, teachers will receive a $1800 stipend (reimbursement) and participate in informal convenings with NYSG staff during and directly after the conference to help them navigate the event and find ways to bring what they learned back to their classrooms. The stipend is only available to select NY educators who teach in the Long Island Sound watershed. See the announcement attached for more information. ***We have very few spaces available on a first come, first serve basis so if you are interested or have questions be sure to reach out ASAP!***
The Long Island Sound Mentor Teacher Program is looking for this year’s team of mentor teachers! We are looking for teachers interested in developing their own workshops for other teachers focused around Long Island Sound topics. Selected mentor teachers are given a stipend, a budget for their workshop, and technical assistance from NYSG staff (we can work with you to help develop your ideas and connect you with resources!). Have an idea? Apply by June 22!
