De La Salle Academy: Mission Statement 06/11/2026

This is De La Salle Academy's newly revised Mission Statement, as read by members of our community.

This statement is the result of a process that brought together voices from across our community, including trustees, students, faculty, staff, alums, and families. Collectively, these perspectives helped shape a mission that both honors our strong foundation and reflects our aspirations for the future.

We believe that middle school matters. This restated mission reflects who we are, what we value, and what is possible for the future of DLSA.

7th Graders visited Riverdale Country School for their spring field trip, led by Ms. Morency, our Director of High School Counseling! They also got to spend some time with Elijah, a DLSA alum and current freshman at Riverdale! Thanks to our generous hosts for giving our students a tour and providing some insight on what to expect in high school.

Next up in our Alum Shout Out series: Dr. Lisa Cabral ’87!

Dr. Lisa Cabral is an emergency medicine physician. In addition to her clinical practice, she is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Einstein, where she mentors and teaches medical students. After graduating from DLSA, Dr. Cabral attended the Birch Wathen-Lenox School, then Wesleyan University. She went on to attend medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed her residency at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Cabral is passionate about education, communication, and helping future physicians grow into thoughtful and compassionate clinicians.

We recently welcomed Dr. Cabral back to DLSA during Health Week to speak with our eighth graders for a Health Ed Seminar. We are so proud of her and grateful for her support of our community!

DLSA is thrilled to welcome Mrs. Nadine Carroll ’93 back to DLSA this summer as the Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning!

Mrs. Carroll is an alum of DLSA and served as a faculty and staff member for six years prior to serving as the Associate Head of School at West Side Montessori, where she has been working for the past three years. During her first tenure at DLSA, Mrs. Carroll taught 7th and 8th grade math, Math Lab, and Doing Science, and served as both Academic Dean and Director of Teaching and Learning. In her new role, Mrs. Carroll will provide strategic leadership for instructional excellence across the school, shaping pedagogy, curriculum coherence, and faculty professional growth in alignment with the school’s mission.

Mrs. Carroll says: “Returning to De La Salle feels deeply meaningful. It has always held a special place in my heart because of its extraordinary community, one rooted in reflection, connection, and genuine care for each student, faculty, and staff. It is exactly what our schools need more of today! In the three years since I left, De La Salle has continued to grow and thrive under Dr. Ángel Gonzalez’s leadership. I'm inspired by his bold vision to make DLSA one of the best middle schools in the country! I’m honored to join the leadership team in advancing that work and contributing to what makes this place so special. There is so much ahead and I couldn’t be more grateful to be part of it.”

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Nadine Carroll ’93 back to DLSA!
