Since starting in June, our Culinary Arts students in Chef Cruz’s class have come a long way. Now in their final segment before heading to externships, they’re putting their skills into action through the Passport Series.

For their first service, students brought their training to the table and served up an impressive spread. We’re proud to see how far they’ve come and excited for what’s ahead!

Last week, Chef Cruz’s students had the opportunity to showcase their skills at the Dorothy Cann Hamilton Memorial, honoring the legacy of a pioneering culinary educator who helped shape generations of chefs.

It was a meaningful opportunity to put their training into practice, connect with professionals across the culinary industry, and experience the energy of working alongside one another beyond the classroom.

Our students brought their best to the event and represented Apex beautifully, and left energized and with new industry connections.

The best career training is informed by people who know the industry firsthand.

We are proud to welcome Chef Youngsun Lee as our newest Culinary Arts Chef Instructor. With experience spanning Momofuku, Craft, and Michelin-starred Jean-Georges, Chef Lee brings years spent in some of NY’s most celebrated kitchens directly into the classroom.

Beginning October 13, he’ll lead a new Culinary Arts class at our full branch campus in Midtown Manhattan, where students will learn through hands-on training and mentorship grounded in real industry experience.

For Chef Lee, it’s an opportunity to pass that experience forward to the next generation of culinary professionals. For our students, it’s an opportunity to learn from someone who has built a career at the highest levels of the industry.

Every dish that comes out of our student-led dining series gets made from scratch by students who are still learning the trade.
