Many girls mistake attention for friendship.
Someone may talk to them when it’s convenient, include them when no one else is around, or give them attention one day and ignore them the next. That can feel exciting, but it isn’t the same as being valued.
True friendship is consistent. It feels safe. It doesn’t leave girls constantly wondering where they stand or working hard to earn someone’s approval.
I want my girls to know that being noticed is not the same as being appreciated, respected, and cared for. They deserve friendships that offer all three.
