✨ Last week, District 27 principals came together for our December Principals Conference ✨

Our principals spent the day learning, reflecting, and reconnecting as a leadership community. We deepened our shared understanding of Tier 1 instruction, examined leadership moves that strengthen consistency and coherence across classrooms, and explored W.I.N. structures to support targeted intervention, acceleration, and enrichment aligned to student data and HQIM.

We also reviewed key budget considerations to ensure resources are aligned to instructional priorities, reflected on attendance and shared responsibility for high-quality teaching, and engaged in leadership reflection connected to CEP goals and district priorities.

The day closed with time to celebrate our collective work, strengthen relationships, and reaffirm our shared commitment to students, schools, and one another.

Thank you to our principals for the leadership, care, and intentionality you bring to this work every day.

🏁 THE CARS ARE ROLLING IN! 🏁
Deliveries are officially underway: Soap Box Derby cars are arriving in District 27 schools, with more than half already delivered! 🚗💨

Students across are getting ready for an exciting journey where they will design, problem-solve, build, and ultimately race their cars as part of a hands-on STEM experience.

District 27 is proud to be the FIRST and ONLY school district in Queens to bring the Soap Box Derby to our students and families.

📅 May 9 | ⏰ 9:00 AM | 📍 Forest Park

With 20 schools participating and THREE DOZEN cars in the works, our first-ever District 27 Soap Box Derby Family Day will celebrate engineering, teamwork, creativity, and community pride.

✨ Civics for All in Action! ✨
On Thursday, teachers gathered at ms226_school for a powerful collaborative Civics for All learning session organized by the Office in partnership with Margie Schikman from and the incredible team at MS 226 . Colleagues from more than three dozen D27 schools came together to learn, reflect, and strengthen civic instruction across our district.
Special shoutout to the incredible Civics leads from MS 226, .232 , and for opening their classrooms and/or sharing their practices with colleagues!

Educators engaged in classroom visits, shared best practices, reflected on student learning, and explored how high-quality Civics for All lessons and Project Soapbox can strengthen student voice and civic engagement across our schools. 🙌🙌🙌

✨ Celebrating the incredible work of the Path Program at ! ✨
Our Acting Superintendent Melissa Compson recently joined Deputy Chancellor Christina Foti, Chief of Special Education Suzanne Sanchez, and leaders across NYC Public Schools to see the Path Program in action right here in

At , students are making remarkable progress and have continued to thrive in this supportive, inclusive program since kindergarten. The visit highlighted the power of small class communities, trauma-informed practices, and strong collaboration among educators, families, and social-emotional support teams.
