The BJP community would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Fr. Mateusz Janyga, SJ, who has been appointed as the new Provincial of the Province of Southern Poland of the Society of Jesus.

While achieving his formation, Fr. Janyga spent two-years completing a pastoral internship at BJP (2008-2010), serving as our Mathematics and Religion teacher. Fr. Janyga has spent the past five years serving as superior of the community and director of the Jesuit Public Elementary School in Mysłowice, and he will begin his new role as Provincial in July. We thank Fr. Janyga for being a part of our community, and reminding us the importance of BJP as a member of a global network of Jesuit education. Please join us in wishing him the best as he shares the values of faith and scholarship.

On April 18, we hosted our second to last Saturday program of the year. With the help from the , our students spent a beautiful Saturday participating in a scavenger hunt around the BJP campus before heading to the park to play. Thank you to all of our Saturday volunteers for continuing to make these days possible, and a big shout out to the Villanova Club of NYC for traveling to BJP and spending their Spring Day of Service with our students!

On Wednesday, we hosted Career Day at BJP! Students spent the morning attending sessions to meet with a firefighter, brand manager, attorney, and more. Our students asked great questions to our volunteers, like, “As a nurse, how many patients do you see in one day?” and “Why don’t the finished buildings always come out like the original drawings you made as an architect?” We are grateful for our Career Day volunteers, who gave their time to show BJP students all the potential career paths at their fingertips.

High School Signing Night is an opportunity for us to celebrate our soon-to-be alums with their parents, teachers, high school partners, and friends of BJP. We are proud to report that through our Graduate Support program, all 29 members of the 2026 eighth grade graduating class have been accepted into competitive Catholic high schools. Our students will attend schools such as Dominican Academy, Notre Dame School, Regis High School, Xaverian High School, and more. It was a night full of well-deserved recognition, and we are thrilled to continue supporting our eighth graders through graduation and beyond. You can read more about High School signing night and other events that took place this past month in our newsletter, linked in our bio.

Our fifth and seventh grade classes had the opportunity to dive into nature during their field trip to Brooklyn Botanical Garden! Our students spent time exploring the garden and conservatories, including the tropical and desert pavilions. Students then learned from Brooklyn Botanical Garden staff about botany, with lessons including how a flower's life cycle works and what parts of the flower contribute to what functions. Thank you to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden staff for allowing BJP to join you for a day and kick off the spring season!

Happy Easter from BJP!

Each year, we provide students with a theme meant to guide their actions and encounters with one another. This year’s theme, pulled from a quote by St. Peter Faber, SJ, is “Seeking Grace in All the Small Things.” The goal is to remind our students the importance of extending and receiving grace. There are no small things, and God is present in every creation.

The resurrection is the ultimate expression of grace, and it is through God that we rejoice in this miracle. May Christ's resurrection kindle in you renewed faith, compassionate service, and gratitude for every gift.

Last month, our students dove into the camp spirit during an afternoon of an all school “rendezvous”! Renewing the Spirit of Camp includes a reenactment of a typical summer Sunday. Our students wore last year’s camp shirts while performing skits about our grad-at-grad values, participating in group dances, and reflecting on this year’s theme of Seeking Grace in All the Small Things. The whole BJP community is excited for another year at Camp Montmartre!
