Good hair genes… or just good options.

One thing I love about Scalp Micropigmentation is that it gives men something women have always had — choices.

Women don’t stop at “better than bald.”
They wear wigs, extensions, different styles, and switch up their look whenever they want.

Men can have those options too.

SMP can create a strong foundation so you can rock the clean shaved look, the buzz cut look, or even elevate your style with hair systems when you feel like it.

In this video you’ll see a man with a shaved look, and when he wants to upgrade his style he can also wear a wig. The best part? No one has to know he may have experienced pattern baldness.

It’s not about pretending.
It’s about having options.

And confidence always looks good.

If you’re an artists you can also use this as a selling marketing strategy to help clients visualize more self confidence options.

🎙 Spill the Ink

One thing about this podcast—I’m not here to tear the industry down. I’m here to bring clarity to it.

There are a lot of stories behind the Scalp Micropigmentation and PMU industry that people rarely talk about. The early struggles, the lessons learned the hard way, the moments that shaped artists before the success.

On Spill the Ink, I’ll be sharing those experiences—not to create fear, but to educate, empower, and help new artists grow with better understanding.

This industry has evolved so much. The new generation of artists has opportunities many of us didn’t have when we started. My goal is to share the knowledge, conversations, and real experiences that can help artists navigate the industry with confidence and professionalism.

Because when the truth is shared the right way, it doesn’t create division—it creates growth.

Truth. Growth. Community. Inked.

Growth conversations are rarely comfortable.

But they are necessary.

Every industry reaches a point where people have to start talking about the things everyone sees… but no one wants to say out loud.

The contradictions.
The gatekeeping.
The shifting rules.

And the truth is — growth will always make some people uncomfortable.

Because growth changes power dynamics.
Growth creates new leaders.
Growth opens doors that some people thought only belonged to them.

But industries don’t evolve by protecting comfort.

They evolve when people are willing to ask hard questions, challenge old narratives, and build something bigger than themselves.

That’s how real progress happens.

So yes… some of these conversations may feel uncomfortable.

But growth has never been comfortable.

And neither is leadership.

SMP Photo Truths: Step-by-Step Guide for Realistic Photos

Step 1 — Understand Your Phone
• Phones aren’t neutral: HDR processing, auto-exposure, and Instagram compression can make pigment appear lighter or shinier than real life.
• Tip: Take a test photo and check how the phone adjusts highlights.

Step 2 — Adjust Your Lighting
• Direct light = glare, washed-out pigment
• Overhead light = shadows that distort detail
• Natural light = most accurate view
• Tip: Use soft, angled light or window light for true-to-life photos.

Step 3 — Control Exposure
• Lower exposure slightly before taking the photo
• Overexposed = pigment looks lighter, less defined
• Proper exposure = shows true density and healing progress
• Tip: On iPhone, tap the scalp to focus and slide the sun icon down slightly.

Step 4 — Consider Post Adjustments
• Before posting, adjust slightly in your editor:
• Highlights: -10 to -20
• Exposure: -5
• Contrast: +5
• This prevents Instagram from blowing out brightness and keeps your work looking realistic.

Step 5 — Educate & Build Trust
• Transparency matters — your photos should reflect reality
• Educating clients protects expectations
• Sharing tips raises the whole industry standard

Step 6 — Optional Pro Tip for Artists
• If you want your SMP dots to look 30–40% stronger in photos, adjust the camera angle slightly above the hairline instead of straight on.
• This subtly shows density without exaggeration.
