🎸✨ Meet Mr. Kenneth Goltsberg, one of our incredible guitar teachers at New York Music Center!

With a uniquely diverse musical background, Mr. Ken started on classical guitar, performing works by Tárrega, Villa-Lobos, and Barrios, before transitioning to electric guitar. His journey has taken him through jazz, blues, rock, R&B, funk, shred guitar, and metal, giving him the versatility to guide students in any style. 🌟🎶

Mr. Ken provides high-quality, comprehensive instruction in repertoire, sight-reading, improvisation, music theory, ear training, composition, and arranging. His lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, combining technique, creativity, and fun.

In addition to teaching, he is an active performer in NYC, appearing as both a sideman and bandleader at venues across the city. 🎵💛

We are thrilled to announce that our student, Emmett Miller, has been awarded Student of the Year 2025 at the New York Music Center / New York City Piano Academy!

Emmett has been a true example of perseverance and genuine passion for music in its fullest sense, becoming one of the most well-rounded musicians at our school. Over the past eight years studying with us participating in our piano, chamber music (clarinet), music theory, and composition programs, he has grown into a remarkably thoughtful, versatile, and complete musician.

Despite having been accepted to music college and now being a sophomore clarinet major at Montclair University, we are proud and honored that he continues to choose our school as part of his musical growth and education.

At the Honors Recital of our 2024–2025 academic year, Emmett delivered an outstanding set of performances at the Steinway Hall: a piano solo performance of Rachmaninoff’s Étude-Tableau, Op. 33 No. 8; the Poulenc Sonata for Clarinet and Piano; and serving as a beautiful colophon to the evening, the world premiere of his own composition, “Singing with Friends,” for violin, cello, and piano, which was met with tremendous success and an enthusiastic, appreciative audience.

We can’t wait to see who will take home the award next year, in 2026! 🌟🎶

Introducing Dr. Renato Diz, a New York-based pianist, composer, producer, educator, and transdisciplinary artist originally from Portugal, as part of our distinguished faculty! 🎹🎶

With a Doctorate in Jazz Piano Performance from the University of Miami - Frost School of Music, a Master’s in Classical Piano from NYU, and a Bachelor’s from ESMAE in Portugal, Renato has performed internationally with renowned artists such as Gilad Hekselman, Roy Hargrove, Maria Schneider, Bria Skonberg, and Patti Austin. As co-leader and producer, he has released seven albums and contributed to over 30 others.

He brings over 20 years of teaching experience, offering instruction in classical, jazz, and contemporary piano styles, making him an instructor you’ll truly want to learn from! 🤩
