This page and discussion group are intended to be a place for AHLA members to further the mission of AHLA through collaboration, support, and brainstorming. The page is a respectful, civil, open, and welcoming environment. Abundant Housing LA is the pro-housing (or YIMBY) group for LA County. We’re a volunteer-led nonprofit that is dedicated to making LA a more affordable place to live. W
e want there to be enough homes for all Angelenos. We want to be able to afford our rent, we want our kids to be able to stay here, and we want Southern California to be diverse and vibrant. This page is where members and people interested in AHLA come together to talk online, coordinate on education and advocacy campaigns, talk policy, plan events, and get to know each other. CODE OF CONDUCT - please read! What is not Allowed
• Sharing or publicizing the contents of the AHLA page. Discussion here is not intended to be shared outside of the page. However, please assume that anything you write may become public at any time, and behave in a professional and respectful manner that will represent AHLA appropriately.
• Promoting an item that you have a financial interest in without first receiving approval from moderators.
• Bad faith usage of the Page. AHLA is a pro-housing organization committed to advocating for more housing. Posters are expected to use the Page to engage in good faith discussion that furthers AHLA’s mission. Members whose behavior goes against the purpose and mission of AHLA may be removed.
• Threats of violence. You may not threaten violence towards others or use the site to organize, promote, or incite acts of real-world violence or terrorism. Think carefully about the words you use, the images you post, and even the software you write, and how they may be interpreted by others. Even if you mean something as a joke, it might not be received that way. If you think that someone else might interpret the content you post as a threat, or as promoting violence or terrorism, stop. Don’t post it. In extraordinary cases, we may report threats of violence to law enforcement if we think there may be a genuine risk of physical harm or a threat to public safety.
• Hate speech and discrimination. While it is not forbidden to broach topics such as age, body size, ability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation, we do not tolerate speech that attacks a person or group of people on the basis of who they are. Just realize that talking about these or other sensitive topics can make others feel unwelcome, or perhaps even unsafe, if approached in an aggressive or insulting manner. We expect our Community members to be respectful when discussing sensitive topics.
• Bullying and harassment. We do not tolerate bullying or harassment. This means any habitual badgering or intimidation targeted at a specific person or group of people. In general, if your actions are unwanted and you continue to engage in them, there’s a good chance you are headed into bullying or harassment territory.
• Impersonation. You may not impersonate another person by copying their avatar, posting content under their email address, intentionally using a deceptively similar username or otherwise posing as someone else. Impersonation is a form of harassment.
• Doxxing and invasion of privacy. Don’t post other people’s personal information, such as phone numbers, private email addresses, physical addresses, credit card numbers, Social Security/National Identity numbers, or passwords. Depending on the context, such as in the case of intimidation or harassment, we may consider other information, such as photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent, to be an invasion of privacy, especially when such material presents a safety risk to the subject.
• Prurient/Sexually explicit content. Basically, don’t post pornography.
• Spam. Don’t post advertisements, link to spammy websites, or otherwise vandalize the Community.
• Active malware or exploits
The Managing Director and designated moderators have the authority to remove posts and posters at their discretion. Actions that may be taken in response to a violation of this code of conduct include, but are not limited to:
• Content Removal
• Content Blocking
• Removal of Member from AHLA

At the end of May, Abundant Housing LA members joined our staff in Sacramento to meet with the LA delegation and advocate for bold housing solutions that match the scale of California’s housing crisis. We urged support for key state bills that will:
🏘️ streamline housing production
🔑 create more pathways to homeownership
🏡 spur missing middle housing
…and build more affordable, inclusive communities across LA County and beyond.

Owning a home in California feels out of reach for too many families. With some of the lowest homeownership rates in the nation, we need more affordable pathways to ownership that don’t require moving further away from jobs, schools, and community.
Los Angeles was built on missing middle housing — duplexes, fourplexes, bungalow courts, and courtyard apartments that created more options for families to live in our communities.
Today, outdated building standards can make these smaller multifamily homes harder and more expensive to build than single-family ones.
LA City Council will soon vote on three Priority State Bills AHLA is supporting:
🏘️AB 1070 (Ward), a bill to study how small-scale multifamily housing can be better incorporated into the residential building code and create more equitable pathways for these housing types.
🏘️ AB 1903 (Wicks): Helps rebalance construction defect laws to prioritize repairs over expensive lawsuits, reducing barriers that slow condo development.
🏘️ AB 1406 (Ward): Expands financing opportunities for new condos by allowing larger deposits, helping lower development costs and unlock new housing production.
These changes can help create more homes that working families can actually afford to own. Join AHLA in support of our housing priorities and advocate for a future where homeownership is possible for more Angelenos.
