Pou Ayiti Cherie🇭🇹A 501c3 nonprofit service and development organization mobilizing  financial & human resources to support the development of self-sufficient communities in Haïti. These communities would be able to secure their community’s basic needs: water, food, shelter, sanitation, and health/hygiene without the need for constant foreign aid. Our collaborative partnership model incorporates working with local engineers, teachers, skilled trades professionals and lay people in Haïti that go unseen and underutilized but have the skill sets to build up their community. Our vision is to support self-sufficient communities by working WITH the community. We mobilize financial and human resources to achieve our mission work. After reaching and normalizing self-sufficiency, our Partner Communities will be self-sustainable via their economic development plans to increase their socio-economic status to lead healthy and prosperous lives. Our goal is that C2C is the last non-profit our Partner Communities would work with as they become self-sufficient. This is narrative-changing work.

Education is one of the few gifts that cannot be taken away.

In this interview, C2C Neighbor Monthly Donor Shenelle Taylor shares how a simple desire to support the Education Initiative became something more personal and practical.

What started as a donation became a conversation. That conversation opened the door to questions about how students were learning, how their progress was being measured, and what tools could help teachers better understand where each child was.

Rain does more than fall. It reveals what needs to be strengthened.

For our Mountainside Partner Community, flood risk is not only about weather. It is about the land, the roads, the ravines and the systems families depend on when storms come.

Through the La Digue Watershed Restoration and Flood Risk Reduction Initiative, C2C Haïti and APHD are working with the community to restore the land before the next emergency.

Because the real response is not only what happens after a disaster.

Financial freedom changes what a woman can choose.

Through the Women’s Microfinance and Economic Empowerment Program, C2C Haïti is helping women in our Mountainside Partner Community access small loans, business training and peer support.

This is not temporary help. It is a pathway for women to build businesses, support their families and create opportunities beyond themselves.

This moment brings us back to the beginning of C2C Haïti’s story.

After the 2010 earthquake, we arrived in Haïti thinking the need was emergency relief. What became clear over time was something deeper.

The call was not to create another handout model.
It was to build with people, listen closely and help strengthen communities from the inside out.

That question has shaped the work ever since: what does it look like when a community is trusted to lead its own future?

Access to money can change what a woman is able to choose.

In our Mountainside Partner Community, women have identified financial exclusion as one of the biggest barriers standing between survival and stability. Without access to credit, training or nearby financial institutions, building a business becomes harder, planning becomes harder and leaving unsafe situations can feel impossible.

C2C Haïti is responding through the Women’s Microfinance and Economic Empowerment Program.

Through this program, 60 women will receive low interest microloans of $400 each, business management training in Haitian Creole and monthly peer support groups for accountability and encouragement.

The fund will be managed locally through APHD, creating a revolving model where repayment opens the door for another woman to begin.

This is Development with Dignity in practice: listening to what women say they need, building with local leadership and creating a path that strengthens families from the inside out.

Compliance should not leave people feeling punished.
For Haitian immigrants in Ohio, a required ICE check in became something far heavier than an appointment. People arrived with documents in hand, doing what was asked of them, and many left carrying fear that no official notice could have prepared them for.

This is the part of the Temporary Protected Status conversation people need to understand. These decisions are not staying inside courtrooms or news reports. They are showing up in waiting rooms, workplaces, homes and family conversations.

C2C Haïti is paying attention because dignity must remain part of the process. Families need trusted information, steady support and communities willing to speak before fear becomes normalized.

Blue Ash, Ohio is showing what allyship can look like in real time.
Residents, advocates, attorneys, faith communities and neighbors have taken to the streets to stand against the unfair treatment of Haitian families affected by Temporary Protected Status.

They are supporting their neighbors, co-workers and friends. How they are supporting matters.

It tells families they are not carrying this moment alone, and it reminds the wider public that silence should never be the only response when people are being treated without dignity.

C2C Haïti is grateful for every ally choosing to learn the history, understand the context and stand with the Haitian community in a meaningful way.

Haïti’s story has always been connected to America’s story. That history should not be ignored when Haitian families are being discussed, judged or pushed into uncertainty.

What is happening around Temporary Protected Status should not be treated like a distant policy debate.

For many Haitian families, it is the difference between stability and fear after years of living, working, raising children and contributing legally in the United States.

When people who have followed the rules are suddenly made to feel like threats, we have to question the way this conversation is being handled.
C2C Haïti believes this moment calls for truth, dignity and a clear reminder that Haitian families should not be stripped of their humanity in the middle of a legal and political process.

We will continue sharing information, standing with our community and speaking against narratives that make it easier to treat people without care.

False stories about immigrants do not stay harmless.

When people repeat that immigrants are taking, stealing or living off systems they do not contribute to, they ignore the truth sitting right in front of them.
Haitian, Caribbean and Hispanic immigrant communities are doing essential work every day. They are caring for families, supporting local economies, showing up in difficult jobs and helping communities function in ways many people never stop to recognize.

That is why education matters.

Before people speak about Haïti, Temporary Protected Status or immigrant families, they need to understand the history, the contribution and the real human beings behind the headlines.

C2C Haïti will keep using our voice to challenge misinformation with truth and dignity.

Access to a birthing center should not depend on distance, terrain, or timing.
For many women in our Mountainside Partner Community in Petit-Goâve, reaching care can mean 2 hours of walking down the mountain, even in moments when time matters most. That gap is what makes maternal care one of the most urgent needs in the community.

The Bonna Dieuseul Health & Wellness Center is being built to change that. To bring care closer. To create a space where women can receive the support they need before, during, and after childbirth.

And now, after years of preparation, we are approaching the moment where that vision begins to take physical shape. We have broken ground!
