Big win for our ECU chapter 👏
The Neurodiversity Alliance Chapter at East Carolina University has been named the 2025–2026 Collaboration of the Year by the ECU Student Organization Committee!
Through our Art Room mentoring program, ECU students are doing more than volunteering, they’re building real relationships, creating inclusive spaces, and showing what community-centered support actually looks like. Neurodiverse college students step into leadership roles, mentoring middle schoolers while developing their own skills in self-advocacy, confidence, and career readiness.
We're so proud of this chapter for setting the standard and proving that meaningful impact starts with connection!

🎉🎉 Meet the first 5 recipients of our 2026–27 Neurodiversity Scholarship!
These students aren’t just navigating systems that weren’t built for them, they’re actively redefining what success can look like.
Each of their stories is a reminder that when neurodivergent students are given the right support, they don’t just succeed, they lead, create, and open doors for others.
From future innovators to advocates and mentors in the making, this is only the beginning.

During , it’s worth acknowledging that while awareness has improved, true understanding is still catching up.
Many conversations around neurodiversity remain surface-level, which can overlook the complexity of real lived experiences.
For neurodivergent individuals, those experiences often include navigating environments that weren’t designed with them in mind and seeking support that truly aligns with their needs.
Acceptance requires more than recognition. It requires listening, adapting, and building systems of support that reflect those realities. In this blog, we break down five important (and often overlooked) realities of neurodiversity.

Confidence looks different on every brain - and that is exactly the point. 🧠✨
This month in the Art Room, students explored self-esteem through a “neurodivergent hero” project. Mentees stepped into the role of mentor by designing superheroes that younger students can look up to and see themselves in. Each hero highlighted what it means to be confident, different, and proud of how your brain works.
Mentors and mentees also had honest conversations about what self-esteem really is, where it comes from, and how it can be built up or broken down in everyday life.
The takeaway: self-esteem is not about being perfect. It is about recognizing your strengths, learning from mistakes, and feeling proud of who you are.

The 3rd Annual Beautiful Minds Conference brought together a powerful community advocating for neurodiversity awareness, understanding, and change both in the room and across the globe.
From a standout keynote by Jesse, President, to a student-led panel facilitated by Lydia, Program Manager, this event was a reminder of what happens when ND voices are actually centered.
Myles Cobb, a student ambassador of The ND Alliance, and fellow student leaders also shared their stories with insight, honesty, and perspective.
Thank you to everyone who came out and showed up for the ND community!
