We are so proud to be in partnership with Spelman College!!
Spelman College is opening its doors even wider, giving high school students access to real college courses for free.
Through its partnership with NEON( National Education Opportunity Network), Spelman is offering college-credit-bearing classes to high school students in underserved communities
This is the kind of opportunity many of us wish we had at that age. What started with 50 students in 2023 has now grown to nearly 300 young scholars earning credit before they even apply to college.
This program isn’t just about academics. It’s exposure. It’s confidence. It’s Black girls seeing themselves on an HBCU pathway early and knowing they belong there. When you see representation at 16 or 17, it changes how you dream at 18 and 19.
Kudos to Spelman for remembering that access is a form of care and for giving our next generation the head start they deserve.

In Spring 2023, we partnered with Spelman College to offer one course to 50 talented high school scholars. "What began as a single course [Education of Black Girls taught by Dr. Andrea Lewis] has grown into a powerful model for access and opportunity—one that continues to inspire collaboration between Spelman College and NEON."
“The growth has been outstanding,” said Lewis. “To be able to offer a college-level course to high school students in underserved communities has been transformational. Spelman has always been community-oriented, but this has taken our mission to the next level. It speaks directly to high school students’ continued interest in HBCUs and recent national trends in increasing admission rates at HBCUs.”
Our partnership has now expanded to two course offerings [Dr. Chateé Omísadé Richardson's African Diaspora and the World] serving nearly 300 scholars in low-income communities across the country.

So proud of the Honor Society Scholars at Brentwood Union Free School District!!🥳
Brentwood is starting the school year with big news 🎉 Seven Brentwood High School students – including recent grads – were inducted into the National Honor Society of the Ed Equity Lab for completing real college courses while still in high school. 💪📚
This recognition highlights the success of our Graduation PLUS+ initiative, where students graduate with more than a diploma – they leave with college credit, career skills and a plan of action for the future. 🌟 Out of New York’s 686 public school districts, Brentwood was one of just eight honored statewide! 👏
Our partnership with National Education Equity Lab gives students the opportunity to build the confidence and knowledge that will prepare them to succeed in college and beyond. Congratulations to our honorees! 🎉

Three years ago, Frida Gonzalez was a sophomore at Birmingham Community Charter High School in Los Angeles when she enrolled in her first National Education Equity Lab course: Stanford University's Introduction to Computers. She became so fascinated by what she learned that she returned as a junior and senior to mentor fellow students in the course at her school. We were thrilled to learn that she has been accepted to Stanford for next year! This is her story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRozaylromk
Congrats, Frida — we are so excited for you! And thank you to Stanford’s faculty and administration for their partnership and commitment to propelling opportunity and college access to students from under-resourced high schools across the country.
