“I’ve trained with Robert since 2019, and thanks to my training with Broadway Collective I just booked my very first paid gig with a SUPER competitive professional theatre company! It’s a pretty dance-heavy show, which I never would’ve thought would be my strong suit but here I am! Thank you so much for being so invested in your students and so passionate about seeing them succeed. The work WORKS!!”

CONGRATS, . We’re so proud!!!! 🥳

Let’s talk about nailing a Broadway final callback.

For those that are new to casting lingo - a callback is the part of the process where the creative team has narrowed the pool of talent to a small select group of people. From that small select group of people they then invite an even smaller group of people to the final callback.

I’m legit sweating after writing that.

Think of a job interview process that goes on and on and on (that is Broadway).

Last year we posted a casting notice for our students to submit self-tapes for the Music Man revival on Broadway starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster.

Many of our students either flew in for the Music Man audition here in NYC or sent in a self-tape (an audition technique that we teach our Hello Broadway and Gathered students).

One of our Gathered mom’s Tenley whose daughter Rosie sent in a self-tape to the Music Man Casting Director emailed me saying, “looks like Rosie got a final callback for the Music Man what do we do next?”.

I had goosebumps all over.

We got on a call and I walked them through what would happen next.
After the final callback in NYC I met Rosie and asked her how did it go? Truth be told I was like a proud dad pacing the audition halls haha! She said “I wasn’t nervous because it was just like what we do everyday at Gathered”.

I started to think about it….she was right.

How could she not have been prepared for this moment after attending Gathered.

The Casting Director for the Music Man….was at Gathered last summer.

The Choreographer for the Music Man…was at Gathered last summer.

The Associate Choreographer for the Music Man…was at Gathered last summer.

The Associate Director for the Music Man…was at Gathered last summer.

Ensemble members from the Music Man…were at Gathered last summer.

The studio Rosie auditioned in…..was the studio we hosted Gathered at last summer.

Prepare yourself now.

Because if Gathered is helping students walk into final callbacks for Broadway shows feeling prepared, confident, and connected I couldn't think of a better place for you to be this summer.

Registration closes TONIGHT at 11:59pm ET.

Parents ‼️

We know you’ve got a million questions about musical theatre and your child.

Questions about colleges, scholarships, and of course, “Is this a realistic career path for my kid?” “And if so, how can I help my kid succeed?”

That’s why—at Gathered, our annual summer program—we invite you to attend a series of Parents-Only info sessions.

Because, yes, Gathered is an amazing experience for your child.

But we want to make it an equally inspiring and powerful experience for you.

Here’s a peek at the Parents-Only info sessions that you’ll attend:

✨How are YOU? We care about your child and their success. And we care about you, too. How are you doing…really? We check in and see how you’re feeling as the parent of a creative, artistic, and passionate kid with big dreams.

✨How to support your young artist. Behind every Tony Award-winning artist is a strong support network. We dive into what it means to raise a young artist and how to best support them on this exciting journey.

✨The training ahead. Musical theatre is a highly competitive industry. You probably wonder, “Does my kid have what it takes?” We break down the academic and artistic training, work ethic, mindset, and other factors that are required to succeed in this business.

Register your child for Gathered, our annual summer program.

You’ll be awed by the level of professionalism, care, thoughtfulness, and support that we deliver to your child. And…the support that we provide to you, too.

You might be sitting in the audience rather than onstage, but YOU are a vital part of this Broadway family, too.

Will we be seeing you + your child at Gathered this summer?

What’s a Broadway audition really like?

www.bwaycollective.com/gathered

Can anybody show up and audition? Or do you have to be invited?

How many people typically attend an audition? Dozens? Hundreds? More?!

Do you line up like cattle while stern-faced people stare at you judgmentally? Or is that just a stereotype and not actually true?

Are you expected to prepare material in advance?

Or do you just arrive and they give you instructions on the spot?

Most importantly, how can you stand out and be The One they notice and hire?

If you’ve got a million questions about musical theatre auditions, then you will love the Mock Audition Workshop.

The Mock Audition Workshop is just one of the many amazing workshops you’ll attend when you register for Gathered, our annual summer intensive.

Learn exactly what to expect at future auditions, so you can walk into the room fully prepared.

This workshop gives you a competitive edge at high school, college, and real-world/professional auditions, too.

3 tips to improve your audition skills.

1. Practice makes perfect.

The honest truth? The more you practice, the better you’ll feel. It’s that simple. Learn your material like the back of your hand. Nerves will always be a factor… no matter how many years you’ve been doing this. So get comfortable with what you’ve got - and practice, practice, practice!

2. Lead with an open mind.

Auditions never go as planned. Sometimes you fall flat on your face. Other times you’lll soar. But the only way you’ll get anywhere is that you keep an open mind. At the end of the day - directors want to work with performers who are open-minded and eager to get the job done.

3. Go back to basics.

When it doubt, breathe it out. Sounds easier said than done, doesn’t it? But it’s the truth. Take a deep breath in for 4 counts, and out slowly for 8 counts. Repeat this 5 times. Trust me - you will instantly feel more relaxed.
