Hey Hunter Students!,
Would you like to be published?!
My name is Maria Agranovskiy and I am currently serving as President of Hunter's Psychology Newsletter. I'm very pleased to hear that there are so many interested in writing for the publication for the Spring 2018 Semester! There are endless topics to be explored in the psychology field and I encourage you to research something that interests you. We will work with you closely as you continue to progress throughout the semester. We will be contacting you if you need help establishing a specific area of interest (and even provide some suggestions if you are stuck) alongside our lovely editor-in-chief, Saba Aslam. If this is something that interests you please look at the deadlines below and send us an awesome abstract! We do have limited spaces for writers so please reach out to us as soon as you can!
Once we have a better idea, you will have your own personal editor to correspond with as well as Saba and I. I have attached our deadlines below, but don't stress! We will be guiding you as these dates approach. For now, please email us at [email protected] your field or topic of interest (with an abstract and 3 sources) and we can go from there! Please reach out to us and we will answer any questions and concerns.

To all Hunter College Students,
Think you’re an observer, intellectual thinker, or creative mind that sees things others don’t? Do you have a knack for creative writing or psychology related fields? Then come join Hunter College’s Psychology Newsletter, which seeks writers, editors, artists like you. Psychology Newsletter is the school’s official newsletter, giving students an opportunity to express their interests within many topics throughout the field. Whether you like biopsychology, neuroscience, clinical psychology, developmental psychology, or many other subtopics within psychology, we want to know what speaks to you.
We are currently looking for editors, an interviewer (who would be interviewing i.e. professors, psych professionals etc...), and an artist that could help make us a beautiful cover, and put some awesome psych inspired art into the publication! Being a part of the Psychology Newsletter looks amazing on your CV and it looks amazing for grad school as well!
There are limited spots for these positions so please let respond to [email protected] by Tuesday September 19th 1:30pm!
Please respond to this email letting us know what position you are interested in -
If you want to apply to be an Editor or Interviewer -
You must know APA format
Please send us a little bio about yourself
Send us a resume
If you want to apply to be an artist for the publication -
Send us some of your artwork
Send us a little bio about yourself as well
We will have conference interviews/skype interviews following up your application if we see that you're a strong candidate.
If you want to write for the publication - (please let us know if you're interested as soon as you can - we are going to finalize deadlines soon)
Knowledge of APA-format is preferred. Corresponding deadlines will be set for three drafts so you don’t have to submit a piece all at once. Students do not have to be a Psychology major to write for us, just have an interest in the field, and be able to research a topic of choice. Most importantly, if you are a student who seeks to attend Graduate school or Medical School, being published in a newsletter would be a wonderful experience to add to your CV. We look forward to hearing from you, and seeing a vast array of imaginative thinkers. So if you'd like to be a writer please respond to this email expressing your interest! Thank you!
Kindly,

“I knew two things about Kew Gardens: Pastrami King and Kitty Genovese.”
Queens Neighborhood Still Haunted by Kitty Genovese’s Murder In Kew Gardens, where Ms. Genovese’s 1964 murder became symbolic of witness apathy, the old neighborhood has a problem with that.

Hello All,
As you may have heard, Hunter College's Annual Psychology Convention is taking place on Sunday, April 17th from 9:30am to 5:30pm. This is one of -- if not the biggest -- event the Psychology Collective & Psychology Department host every year. If you do not know, the Convention is an event that allows you to share your research with students, other researchers, and faculty members in the scientific community. For those not presenting, this event is an excellent opportunity for students to network and learn about research in all subjects of Psychology.
Since this event is so big, we seek volunteers to help with organization, the time management of presentations, greetings, food distribution, and directions. As a volunteer, you will help with one or more of these tasks but you also will have time to eat (free food) and sit-in on the presentations. This is a great opportunity to get to know other club members/officers, to help organize a huge event, and to gain volunteer hours. It is also a nice addition to put on a CV/resume. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this form:

If you would like more information about the convention, please head over to the Psych Collective's new website and click the tab for the annual convention: http://hunterpsychcollective.net/2016/02/19/annual-convention-2016/
The Psych Collective thanks you all for reading this and we look forward to working with you soon.
Thank you and enjoy your week,
- Psychology Collective Officers
