Since last fall, I have been lucky enough to travel across the US to meet with members of our extensive Barnard College alumnae network. I’m so thankful to hear their unique perspectives from life after Barnard as we fearlessly shape the future together. See you on the road again soon!

Barnard College's Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program (EFMP), within the Sloate Media Center, provides resources, technical skills, and mentorship to support students through the creative process of making a short film. Learn more about the program:

Barnard Shines the Spotlight on Undergraduate Visual Storytellers For five years, the Emerging Filmmaker Mentorship Program has welcomed a new cohort to direct, produce, and publicly screen their work.

Yesterday, Barnard College gathered on our very own Futter Field to watch the solar eclipse. It was great to come together on campus for this unforgettable rare experience! Thanks to the Barnard Physics and Astronomy Department and Residential Life and Housing for providing our solar eclipse glasses. 😎

Congratulations to the Columbia women’s basketball team who are headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history! What an achievement! I had a great time cheering you on this season and am especially proud of our five Barnard College athletes on the team. Best of luck in Virginia!

This International Women's Day, I am proud to lead an institution dedicated to empowering women's leadership and am honored to stand alongside the other women presidents of NYC who are shaping the future of higher education.

Every day, I get the opportunity to witness firsthand the work of outstanding women leaders at Barnard College, whose dedication and passion have paved the path for countless students to pursue their dreams and break barriers themselves. Here's to the women who have made history and those who continue to work toward creating a more equal and inclusive world!

I was thrilled to attend the 2024 Athena Film Festival last week. Since becoming president, I have heard about how meaningful the Athena Film Festival experience is from so many Barnard College community members, and I can now attest to this energy after attending my first festival.

Congratulations to the AFF team for another successful weekend celebrating and elevating women storytellers and leadership.

Cheers to you seniors, and your final semester at the College! Here's to all you accomplished as Barnard students and to all you will achieve beyond the gates!

Last week, we celebrated Acts of Service Day as a way to build community on our Barnard College campus and beyond our gates, with projects to benefit our community partners in Harlem and Morningside Heights. Students, faculty, and staff worked together to pack hygiene kits, write letters to seniors in isolation, and to knit hats and pack winter wear for our neighbors around New York.

Thank you to our wonderful Community Engagement and Inclusion staff for organizing the projects, and thanks to our local community partners. Together, we were able to pack 300 winter essential bags, bundle 10 boxes of diapers, write 47 letters against isolation, and create 80 period product packs.
