If you want to learn a bit more, take a read, and if your young student is enrolled, drop a comment on how you found it and your experiences so far.

These programs will provide students with access to a wider range of citywide courses and will allow them to attend classes during non-traditional hours.

Regardless of the role gaming does or doesn't play in your household (and we're here to tell you, gaming is a lot like, er, a lot of other things; there's those who do it, and those who don't talk about doing it) but this is such a delightful and nostalgic window into one parent's relearning of the power of play, and ultimately what we have to learn from emerging edu'tainment.

After 1987's "The Legend of Zelda," kids like me played video games because they were engines of powerful surrogate experiences. Kids like my daughter still do.

We've longed believed that there's no such thing as a "bad person," and especially a no such thing as a bad young person. Behavior can certainly be bad, but it's expressed as an attempt to meet human needs we all share.
