Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious gastrointestinal problem that mostly affects premature babies. The condition inflames intestinal tissue, causing it to die. A hole (perforation) may form in your baby's intestine. Bacteria can leak into the abdomen (belly) or bloodstream through the hole.

Certain cow's milk formulas are causing a higher risk of NEC in premature babies versus babies that receive donor milk. If your child has been diagnosed NEC following the consumption of formula by cow milk formula producers such as Enfamil, Ge**er, Similac, or Happy Baby; you could be eligible for compensation.
