🚨 Your QR code looked perfect. Until someone tried to scan it.

One of the most common QR code mistakes isn't the design. It's the SIZE.

Too small, and people will:
📱 Move closer
📱 Move farther
📱 Try again
❌ Give up

A QR code should scan instantly, not turn into a guessing game.

Before you print your next campaign, make sure your QR code is sized for the distance people will actually scan it from.

“Free” QR codes are costing businesses more than they think.

I’ve been seeing more Reddit posts from people asking the same question:

“Why did my QR code suddenly stop working?”

Most of the time, the answer is simple:
The QR code was only free during the trial.

The problem is that many businesses don’t realize this until AFTER the QR code is already printed on:

• Product packaging
• Restaurant menus
• Posters
• Flyers
• Business cards

Then one day the QR code stops working…
And suddenly they’re being asked to pay double-digit monthly fees just to reactivate it.

At that point, the “free” QR code becomes way more expensive.

This is why businesses should always check:

✅ Does the QR code expire?
✅ Is scan tracking permanent?
✅ Are dynamic QR codes included long-term?
✅ What happens after the trial ends?

Because replacing printed QR codes is not cheap.

And honestly, this is becoming a bigger issue as more businesses rush to use QR codes without reading the fine print first.

A QR code should still work long after the campaign launches.
That’s why checking the platform’s pricing structure matters before printing anything at scale.

Your QR code doesn’t always need a huge billboard-sized placement to work 👀

Sometimes, the best scans happen in places where people naturally pause for a few seconds.

Like:
• Checkout counters
• Restaurant tables
• Product packaging
• Waiting areas

Small moments of waiting = opportunities to scan.

Where’s the most unexpected place you’ve seen a QR code?

Japan is preparing to introduce QR code food labels on processed food packaging 👀

Instead of squeezing more details onto tiny labels, consumers could soon scan a QR code to access ingredients, nutrition facts, translations, cooking videos, recipe ideas, and more.

The move could also help businesses update product information more quickly and improve recall traceability.

This shows how QR codes are becoming more than just a marketing tool… they’re turning packaging into a smarter and more accessible experience.

It’s another example of how GS1 Digital Link QR codes are helping turn everyday packaging into interactive digital experiences.

Would you scan a QR code for food info while shopping? 🛒

A few years ago, QR codes still felt like a “nice extra.”

Now? People scan them everywhere.

QR code scans have grown by 433% over the past 3 years, and the habit keeps growing. From product packaging and billboards to in-store promos and events, people are already expecting something they can scan.

For brands, that changes the game.

A simple QR code can turn someone from just “seeing” your campaign into actually interacting with it in seconds.

The real question now isn’t “Should we use QR codes?”

It’s: “Are we making the most out of them?”
