You’ll be surprised how many parents don’t ask their kids questions as much as possible. Asking questions is one of the best and simplest ways to initiate engagement. Let’s ask kids questions such as “sweetie, what did you do in school today” or “hunny, was the food yummy ?” Even if they don’t respond, it will help with their language/speech development long term. What did you and your kids talk about last ?

Let’s talk about screen time. Prior to the pandemic the AAP recommends no more than 2 hours of screen time a day for young kids. However, since the pandemic screen time has drastically gone up. How much screen time are your kids getting a day ?

The process towards success is more important than the success itself. The benefits of effort and recovering from failure is that kids learn humility, persistence and resilience. Encourage effort by saying things like “hunny, good job for trying, I bet if you keep working on pedaling you will learn to ride your bike.” Prioritize the process over the win and your kid will end up always winning at life.
