How AI Is Bringing Film Stars Back from the Dead

AI ( Artificial Intelligence) - technology that simulates human intelligence in performing a variety of tasks

First Reading:

Focus on the introduction and main points of the article. Skim through the sections and its titles- those are your "helpers" in getting the gist- the general idea.

Second Reading:

Identify interesting facts/examples that connect to the main points of the paragraphs. Focus on interesting new words or expressions such as "deepfakes", "at the cutting edge", "at the root of", " for the sake of".

See if you can find (in your head, not "Google") a substitute for words like "troubling" in "troubling questions" or "tough" in "tough place". You may be surprised to discover how much vocabulary you already know and how effectively your brain activates it if you already know the main idea and pay attention to the context ( the sentence before and after).

Now you are ready to participate in the discussion:

Discussion Questions:

1. Will actors lose jobs to AI? What other professions may be in danger?

2. Should we still have rights after death?

Comprehension Questions:

1. What country are the houses in?

2. What illness/disease do people suffer from?

3. How many children suffer from that sickness?

4. What is the difference between traditional houses and the modern ones? How can a new design of those Star Homes help fight mosquitoes?

5. How many Star Homes are already in the area and how are their new occupants chosen?

6. What do the occupants say about their new home? Do they like it?

7. What did the researchers find out in a pilot study?

8. What are the plans for the future and what is Salum's dream?

Discussion Questions:

1. Are mosquitoes or other insects a problem in your region?
2. Can you come up with other ways of fighting mosquitoes?
