At last, humanity is beginning to come to terms with the harsh reality that the battle against climate change is one that threatens our very existence. On that note, we aim to present a panel that discusses the steps forward with both nuance and urgency In an age of partisanship and division, global warming calls for global solutions. A discussion on the necessary conditions for governments, international institutions and intricately linked channels of trade and finance to fully shoulder their responsibility towards the planet would make for an intriguing and important conversation. The varying roles of developed and developing nations, preventing the effects of climate change from destroying the lives of the world’s poorest and the feasibility of a sustainable green transition are among the many crucial issues we hope this panel will address.

Dr. Graciela Chichilnisky is the co-founder and CEO of Global Thermostat, and co-creator of a carbon removal technology that can reverse climate change. Under Dr. Chichilnisky’s leadership, the company was awarded a Silver designation on Pepperdine Graziadio Business School’s 2020 Most Fundable Companies List, and its technology was chosen by MIT Technology Review as one of the Ten Breakthrough Technologies of 2019, a list curated by Bill Gates.

Connie Hedegaard is a Danish Politician and Former European Commissioner for Climate Action. She was also a Minister of Denmark for Climate and Energy.

Kara Mangone is the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Sustainable Finance Group at Goldman Sachs. Previously, she led engagement with the firm's investors on corporate governance and sustainability.

Anne Simpson is the Managing Investment Director for Board Governance & Sustainability at CalPERS. In 2019, she was named as one of the 15 women leading the global fight on climate change by Time Magazine, and one of the 100 Most Influential Women in US Finance by Barron’s (Dow Jones) in 2020.

The Chair, Gillian Tett is chair of the editorial board and editor-at-large, US of the Financial Times. In 2014, she was named Columnist of the Year in the British Press Awards and was the first recipient of the Royal Anthropological Institute Marsh Award. Tett’s past roles at the FT have included US managing editor, assistant editor, capital markets editor, deputy editor of the Lex column, Tokyo bureau chief, and a reporter in Russia and Brussels.
