Every year you say next year.
Next year starts next week.
Here is what makes this one different. Every other day of our fall semester is already in session. Sunday is the only group that has not started yet, and there is a reason for that. Every Sunday in September belongs to the chagim. Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot. The calendar took all of them.
So the Sunday group starts on October 11, the first Sunday the holidays leave alone, and runs ten weeks. Small group. All levels. Real conversation from the first session, because that is the only way anyone has ever learned to actually speak a language.
It is the last group in this semester still open.
You are not behind. You are starting on the Sunday that was waiting for you.

The door closes behind them, backpacks and all, and the house goes quiet in that particular way it only does on the first days of school.
