Belgian prodigy Laurent Simons has earned a PhD in quantum physics at just fifteen after defending his thesis at the University of Antwerp in November 2025. He finished high school at eight, completed a physics bachelor at eleven and a master’s in quantum physics at twelve before moving on to research Bose polarons in superfluid and supersolid systems for his doctorate. I am happy to invite submissions to a Special Issue on empowering more individuals in education to effectively utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI). The aim of this issue is to explore and advance research and scholarship on AI related to one or more of the core principles of educational psychology: human cognition, learning, motivation, and beliefs about learning. We seek a broad set of papers: empirical, methodological, systematic reviews or meta-analysis, and papers on inclusive and equitable learning, enhanced educational outcomes, and lifelong learning.
