Yesterday, the Latino Social Work Coalition was proud to be on Capitol Hill for Social Work Day with Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy. 🇺🇸

We had the opportunity to engage with social workers and students from across the country—building community, sharing strategies, and strengthening our collective voice at a critical moment for the profession.

We also brought our advocacy directly to our local elected officials, lifting up key issues including:
• The Social Work Workforce Act
• The growing threat of the deprofessionalization of social work degrees—and its downstream impact on student access, workforce pipelines, and community mental health.

This is what it looks like when social workers show up not just in practice spaces, but in policy spaces. 💼✨

Last night was everything we needed and more. ✨

Our Social Services Mixer brought together an incredible community of social workers, advocates, and changemakers—and the energy in the room was undeniable. From meaningful conversations to new connections (and yes, some dancing 💃🏽), it was a powerful reminder of the community we’re building together.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, poured into one another, and made the night so special. This work can be heavy, but spaces like this remind us that we don’t have to carry it alone.

A special thank you to Oyate Group for your continued support and to Nourish BX for hosting us so beautifully. We’re so grateful to partner with spaces and organizations that truly believe in community.

More moments like this to come. 💙

Proud that the Latino Social Work Coalition served as an event sponsor for this powerful gathering.

Thank you to our partners at the National Association of Puerto Rican and Hispanic Social Workers for the opportunity to collaborate and for convening such an important conversation for our profession. We are also grateful to all of the event sponsors whose support helped make this impactful space possible.

Yesterday we joined at the NY State Capitol to garner support for the Social Work Workforce Act (SWWA - S988/A701) . This bill will eliminate the ASWB entry-level testing requirement, a biased test removed from licensure processes in 17 states as well as D.C. If passed, the SWWA will increase the number of qualified and licensed MSW holding professionals entering social work, especially at a time where we need social workers more than ever. Thank you and for your advocacy on this issue and by bringing this important work to legislation. Another thank you to all of the legislators (most not pictured) that met with social work students, professionals and allies to discuss the importance of this bill.
