Learn Mandarin Chinese Through Immersion Academic & Fun Activities

Our 4 & 5 YO started reading Chinese characters. 🥕🍎🍍🥒🍓🫐🍌🍇🍐🍊🥦🫛🌽

This is the magic window. At 4 and 5, children absorb language the way the rest of us only dream about. Every flashcard is a seed. Every ”I know that one!“ is a root going deeper.

This is 芽 · Sprouts — our 4 and 5-year-old cohort at Hello, Mandarin! — and they are already reading. 🌱

Our 11YO to introduce her stunning 元宵节 piece entirely on her own — colorful 汤圆Tangyuan, each one a different flavor, arranged in a beautiful blue-and-white bowl.

But here’s what she also knows:
•Why tangyuan are round?
•What the full moon means?
•Why families gather on the fifteenth day of the Lunar New Year?
•What it feels like to belong to something bigger than yourself?

This is what arts-based Mandarin immersion looks like. Language lives in the hands, the colors, the stories — not just the textbook.

“拨浪鼓,咚咚咚!”

A little Lantern Festival moment on the Upper East Side 🏮
Our little artists created their own traditional Chinese rattle drums (拨浪鼓) — inspired by Chinese dragons 🐲 and Peking Opera patterns 🎭.
Then came the best part…
🥁 D**g d**g d**g!
Through art, music, and culture, children experience Mandarin in a joyful and meaningful way.

At Hello, Mandarin!, we believe language grows beautifully when it is connected to creativity, culture, and the stage ✨
