Get to know actress & activist Lana Condor (). As the star of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Lana was one of the first Asian-American women to play a lead role in a young adult rom-com.

Today, Lana uses her platform to speak about the importance of representation in the media as well as putting an end to anti-Asian hate.

"I think many people are in denial or believe violence against Asians isn't a real thing," she told PopSugar magazine. "Even some of my close friends weren't aware of what was going on. I needed to let people know what was happening.”

Meet Ariana from Nanjing, China. We love when our students share their experiences with us!

“What I really liked about this tour was our discussion of gender and activism on college campuses. From learning these concepts, I now can more deeply analyze modern societal issues, which helps me think deeply and comprehensively about everything!

Professors and students shared with us their experience of studying in different regions and schools, and all of these personalized discussions helped me identify options for future study. Our tour’s theme was women’s leadership - not only what it means to become a “leader,” but how to become more confident throughout all aspects of your life."

On this day in 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rosa Parks played a pivotal role in what became the Montgomery bus boycott. The U.S. Congress has honored her as the first lady of civil rights and the mother of the freedom movement.

At Global Girls Prep, we encourage women to stand up for what they believe in and support others who are doing the same.
We’re a team of college admissions experts, mentors, and educators from various disciplines. We work with young women from all over the world and help them seize opportunities for higher education in the U.S.

Global Girls Prep loves to feature women business owners who are creating waves in society.

After getting her period in public without the supplies she needed, Claire Coder () founded Aunt Flow () at 18 years old. Coder wanted to create a solution to ensure quality period products are available for free in public bathrooms.

Since 2016, Aunt Flow has worked with hundreds of businesses and schools across the country to offer free organic cotton tampons and pads. Plus, for every 10 period products sold, Aunt Flow donates 1 product to various non-profits. In 2021, Aunt Flow donated over 940,000 products to menstruators in need.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The UN began observing this day in 1981 to raise awareness and trigger action globally. November 25 marks the brutal 1960 assassination of the three Mirabal sisters, who were political activists in the Dominican Republic.
Global Girls Prep stands with anyone facing abuse and encourages victims of abuse to reach out to someone they trust. Below we’ve shared some resources for anyone who is experiencing abuse, or who knows someone in need of help.

Check out She Said, which premiered in theaters yesterday!

The film covers the gripping story of The New York Times journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, who exposed the powerful Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in an article that would help instigate the global movement.

Members of the GGP team attended an early screening and were encouraged by the predominantly female cast, crew, writer, director and producers. The cast also included survivors and was partially filmed in The New York Times building.

She Said shows the power of using your voice and standing together.

Get to know Elizabeth Tzagournis, the latest addition to the Global Girls Prep Team! As a moderator, producer and writing mentor for GGP, Elizabeth enjoys working with students and speakers to create fun, interactive events.

Fun fact: During quarantine, Elizabeth and her younger sister created a blind, virtual dating show called Dating Greek, modeled after the popular Netflix show Love Is Blind. (They have a couple set to get married in May 2023!)

Elizabeth loves connecting people and can’t wait to continue bringing great speakers and events to GGP students and the community.
