Long before stages, choirs, and classrooms, there was a small Kneipe in Oldenburg, a smoky room, a borrowed keyboard, and the courage to sing for whoever would listen.

Heritage Session #1: Colors of the Wind (New York, 1998)
The first time I heard this song, I felt its call - a reminder that nature speaks in rivers, trees, and stones if we are willing to listen. Colors of the Wind became part of my teaching and my singing, a song that always carried me back to truth.
This opening Session marks the beginning of the Janine Smith Music Heritage journey. Through these sessions I will curate songs, tell their stories, and connect the archive to new generations.
